The newest advertisement for Pokémon Legends: Arceus features the adorable Pokémon Budew in puppet form sabotaging a dating show. Pokémon Legends: Arceus is the first game in the series in which Pokémon can and do deal damage to the player, potentially causing players to drop their satchel full of items and be teleported back to base camp. This isn’t the only mechanic that Pokémon Legends: Arceus flips on its head in the new action RPG.

The latest series of Pokémon Legends: Arceus advertisements capitalize on this dynamic shift in the series, claiming, “it’s Pokémon, but not as you know it.” In a previous advertisement, the rideable Pokémon Basculegion terrorizes an Antiques Roadshow-style program, demonstrating that Pokémon can indeed be terrifying creatures. Fortunately for many players, Basculegion is primarily a friendly, noble Pokémon that will allow them to travel across the water, rather than attacking them.

Originally reported by NintendoLife, the latest Pokémon Legends: Arceus commercial shows a puppet-style Budew in the real world spreading spores on the set of a dating reality show. This trailer, despite still depicting Pokémon causing danger for the dating show participants in the real world, takes on a somewhat more comedic tone as the characters try to play off their allergic reactions as blushing or crying because of how nice the other looks. In the end, the couple ends up deciding they have a lot in common, including disheveled hair and red faces. The Budew appears very happy to have brought them together.

While very different from the actual game, this advertisement illustrates how Pokémon Legends: Arceus differs from other Pokémon games. One of the most common ways for player characters to get attacked is by Grass-type Pokémon spraying them with various powder moves, such as Sleep Powder and Poison Powder. If these moves connect, they do have lingering effects, causing the player character to take further damage or even fall asleep for a few moments, not unlike the characters from this advertisement.

Since this is only the second advertisement using the same style, it's very likely that another Pokémon from Pokémon Legends: Arceus will appear in puppet form at some point, ready to cause destruction. Budew is, of course, quite adorable, but it’s a shame that Paras didn’t get the spotlight in this ad. The mushroom Bug-type Pokémon has already become much more infamous for attacking players in Pokémon Legends: Arceus with the same moves. At this point, there is no telling what the next advertisement will feature, just that there will be a Pokémon in puppet form causing some kind of mayhem in the real world.
