During the main storyline in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Cogita will task Trainers with finding several Plates located across the Hisui region — one of which is at Prelude Beach. To begin this mission, players must ask Cogita for hints about where the Plates can be found. When in dialogue with her, Trainers can choose "The beginning" option to start the mysterious Pokémon Legends: Arceus quest, "The Plate of Prelude Beach."

After speaking with Cogita, merchant Volo will talk with the player outside her tent. He mentions once the Trainer has discovered all of the Plates, their inscribed cryptic messages can reveal how to meet Arceus, the creator of Hisui. Once the conversation is over, return to Jubilife Village to progress the mission. Upon arrival, players will encounter Commander Kamado waiting at the town entrance. He will acknowledge the Trainer's quest to collect the Plates hidden across Hisui and demand that the player meets him at Prelude Beach south of the village.

While the trek to the beach isn't very far, players can fast travel to the Practice Field to reach their destination more quickly. After arriving at Prelude Beach, the main objective of the "The Plate of Prelude Beach" mission will become apparent. Pokémon Legends: Arceus' Kamado, dressed in a suit of armor, will challenge the Trainer in a Pokémon battle. Players will be provided the choice to begin the fight; however, it is recommended that players only select "Yes" if they are well-prepared for this boss battle.

The Plate of Prelude Beach Guide in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Pokémon Legends Arceus The Plate of Prelude Beach Guide

Earlier in Pokémon Legends: Arceus' story, players faced Kamado at Mount Coronet. On the other hand, this time at Prelude Beach, his Pokémon party will be much stronger than before. The five Pokémon he will use are Golem, Heracross, Snorlax, Clefable, and Hisuian Braviary. The Golem will always be the Pokémon he dispatches first, but the rest may appear in random order. His Snorlax will be Level 66, and the other opponents will all be Level 65. Such high levels in Pokémon Legends: Arceus will require that the player be extra prepared for this tough battle.

Golem, the first encounter, is a Ground and Rock-type Pokémon that is weak against Ice, Fighting, Ground, Steel, Water, and Grass-Type attacks. Grass and Water-Type moves are highly effective against it. Next is Heracross, a Bug and Fighting-Type Pokémon weak to Fire, Fairy, Psychic, and Flying-Type moves. Snorlax is a tanky Normal-Type Pokémon, meaning players should use Fighting-Type moves against it. As a Fairy-type Pokémon, Clefable will be vulnerable to Poison and Steel-Type attacks. However, be careful not to use Dragon-type Pokémon when battling it. Finally, to defeat Kamado's Hisuian Braviary in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Trainers must use moves of Electric, Ice, Rock, Ghost, and Dark-Type. Once players have defeated the Commander, he will grant players the Fist Plate, thus completing the "The Plate of Prelude Beach" mission.
