Basculegion is one of the newest creatures to debut in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Almost every new Pokémon added in this game is directly tied to the game's story. Normally, new Pokémon are just naturally found when exploring the wild. Since Pokémon Legends: Arceus only has a handful of new creatures, each one is closely tied in with the narratives as Noble Pokémon. These are Pokémon that have been altered by the mysterious lightning coming from the wormhole in the sky and it's up to the player to quell them and stop their frenzy. Alternatively, there are mount Pokémon for players to ride to get around the map. With Basculegion, it's possible to cross large bodies of water quickly without drowning.

Unlocking access to Basculegion does not actually add the Pokémon to the Pokédex. Trainers will need to capture a Hisuian Basculin and evolve it into a Basculegion. A big part of this title is capturing the same Pokémon multiple times in different ways. Doing this unlocks more areas, Pokémon, and crafting materials in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. To find Hisuian Basculin, trainers will need access to Alabaster Icelands, Coronet Highlands, or Colbat Coastlands.

To evolve Basculin in Basculegion, the Basculin will need to receive a total of 294 recoil damage while in battle. Although, any recoil damage that causes the Pokémon the faint will not count towards this number. Recoil damage is essentially a punishment for doing an aggressive move as it lowers the Pokémon's HP once the move is completed. At level 34, Basculin will learn Double Edge, a powerful Normal-type attack that does 100 damage, using this move will build up the recoil damage counter. After a few battles of using Double Edge, Basculin will be given the option to evolve into Basculegion, head into the Pokémon menu to manually evolve it.

Finding Basculin in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Pokémon Legends Arceus Undermines Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

Basculin has a white striped in Pokémon Legends: Arceus when compared to the normal red or blue stripe of Pokémon Black and White. These are all the different locations it can spawn.

  • Alabaster Icelands: Lake Acuity and Heart's Crag.
  • Cobalt Coastlands: Tranquility Cove and Islespy Shore.
  • Coronet Highlands: Fabled Spring.

Bring along a Pokémon with Grass or Water-type attacks to weaken it in battle, making it easier to capture. Using the Agile Style moves will make it so the attack does less damage, preventing the opponent Pokémon from fainting. Alternatively, trainers can just quietly approach Basculin to capture it. Using food as bait is a great way to keep it distracted. Evolving Basculin into Basculegion is required for trainers looking to unlock the Shiny Charm. It's a postgame item that increases the odds of encountering a Shiny Pokémon.
