In Pokémon GO, Community Day for July 2022 will be featuring the Normal/Flying-type Pokémon Starly. On Sunday, July 17, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. local time players will have the opportunity to catch an abundance of Starly in the wild with significantly increased odds of finding a shiny. During the event, players can expect the odds of finding a shiny Starly in the wild to be 1 in 15. Starly is a small grey and white bird that evolves into the larger Staravia and eventually Staraptor, which is the largest of the three with distinct red fur on its head. If players find a shiny Starly in Pokémon GO during July's Community Day, they will discover it is brown and white instead of grey.

If players evolve a Staravia during the event or up to five hours after the Pokémon GO event, they will have a Staraptor that knows the fast attack Gust, which is a Flying-type move. Gust is a powerful move that does 16 damage in trainer battles and 25 damage in raid battles. In order to complete Starly's evolutionary line during the event to gain the Staraptor with the special move, players will need to collect 125 Starly candies. Each Starly will reward players with 6 candies due to the event bonus, and players can use a Pinap berry or Silver Pinap Berry to double the number of earned candies in Pokémon GO.

Additionally, three hours after Community Day officially ends in Pokémon GO, there will be a three-hour follow-up event that features Staravia in four-star raids. If players successfully defeat the raid, they will earn an increased spawn rate of Starly near the raid gym for 30 minutes. Starly that spawn this way have the same increased shiny rate as Starly during Community Day hours of 1 in 15, but the other Community Day bonuses will no longer be active. Players will only be able to participate in these special raids using Raid Passes or Premium Battle Passes because Remote Raid Passes will not grant them entry to the special raid in Pokémon GO.

For Community Day, players can also benefit from several additional bonuses during the three-hour window in Pokémon GO. During the event, players will earn triple the normal XP for catching Pokémon. Additionally, the event unlocks 2x Candy for catching Pokémon, and a 2x chance to receive Starly Candy XL from catching Starly. Incense and Lure Modules activated during Community Day will last for three hours instead of the standard 60 minutes. Players can also make one additional special trade during the event and up to five hours afterward for a maximum of three trades for the day, and any trades made this way will require 50% less Stardust in Pokémon GO. Finally, players will also have 5x the odds of finding a Pokémon photobombing their snapshots.

Players will also be able to celebrate Starly Community Day with cosmetic items. Additionally, players will find stickers to decorate gifts featuring Starly and Community Day by spinning PokéStops, opening gifts, and purchasing them from the in-game shop. Players can also choose to purchase a ticket for $1.00 to experience the Community Day-exclusive Special Research story. Alternatively, players can also purchase tickets for the event and gift them to friends.
