Pokémon GO developer Niantic will soon be adding Shiny Espurr and multiple forms of Shiny Deoxys to the game. These fan favorites are part of the swathe of content coming to Pokémon GO in February, including the previously-detailed Johto Tour event.

Alternate forms are some of the most sought-after Pokémon in Pokémon GO. Shiny forms are notoriously rare palette swaps, and popular Pokémon such as Shiny Gyarados can be hard to find even during their respective events. There are also a number of Pokémon that have received costumes or hats for special occasions, with Pikachu alone having dozens of alternate appearances. However, not every Pokémon in Pokémon GO has a Shiny form, and so Niantic often updates the game with different opportunities to catch newly-added Shinies.

Beginning in February, Niantic will introduce Shiny Espurr and all the Shiny versions of Deoxys to Pokémon GO. From February 1 until March 1, lucky players will be able to find Espurr's pink Shiny form in encounters. Deoxys will be returning to five-star raids throughout the second half of February, and this time its Attack, Defense and Speed Forms will also have Shiny versions. Players will also be able to get up to two free Raid Passes per day from spinning Gym Photo Discs between February 16 and March 1.

There's plenty more coming to Pokémon GO in February as well, involving multiple events and new Spotlight Hours. The first week of the month will be celebrated with a Lunar New Year event, followed by a Valentine's Day event that will debut an evolutionary line of Fairy-type Pokemon in Pokémon GO. Every Tuesday of the month will also feature a different Pokémon for the Spotlight Hour, including Litleo, Spritzee, Koffing, and Voltorb. There will even be a Pokéball-focused event leading up to the big Johto Tour at the end of the month.

Not all of Pokémon GO's special events have been winners, but Niantic seems to be putting a lot of weight behind February and the Pokémon GO Johto Tour. The Kanto Tour last year was surprisingly well-received by players in comparison to other events. Niantic has obviously decided to leverage that combination of popularity and nostalgia again, and one can probably expect to see this Tour concept applied to other regions and generations of Pokémon in the future. Time will tell how successful that formula is, but for now, players can enjoy the plethora of events happening in February.
