Pokémon GO has revealed its roadmap for September, which includes several spotlights and the full release of the Victini special research. These announcements come on the cusp of mega evolutions finally making their way into the game.

Victini was previously released into the game via exclusive special research that could be obtained during 2020's Pokémon GO Fest. This series of special research tasks had trainers go up against Team Rocket and purifying shadow Pokémon. This year's GO Fest was hugely successful for Niantic, with it generating the most amount of revenue for the game since its launch in 2016.

This new roadmap, as posted on Pokémon GO Live, details several events that will occur during September. First, several legendary Pokémon will be available to fight in raids, with the raid monsters rotating every week or so. Right now, the legendary creature available is Heatran, which will be available until September 10th until it's followed up by Cresselia, then Articuno after September 18th, then Zapdos after September 25th. Then, starting each Tuesday in September, different Pokémon will be in the spotlight starting at 6pm local time for each day. These will include Eevee, Houndour, Tentacool, Skitty, and Spearow. September 24th will be GO Battle night, in which players will be able to earn double the stardust for battles.

The special research for Victini will be released by the end of September. For those that already claimed Victini during the 2020 GO Fest, the special research will award more Victini candy. The news ends with one more unfortunate announcement: after September 30th, the villainous Jessie and James will no longer appear in the world of Pokémon GO. They were first introduced into the game in mid July, where players would be able to fight them by finding the Meowth balloon in the overworld. Upon beating them, players would be rewarded with shadow Koffing and Ekans respectively, the two iconic Pokémon of Jessie and James. There's no word regarding whether or not the two will return in the game in the future.

While it's unfortunate that the beloved Team Rocket duo will be making their disappearance from the game, those that were unable to claim Victini during the 2020 GO Fest won't have much longer to wait in order to get a second chance at receiving the victory Pokémon. Victini's second debut along with the soon debut of mega evolutions in Pokémon GO will provide plenty of content for players to chew on for the month of September.
