In Pokémon GO, players can find a Qwilfish in one-star raids. Accordingly, players should be able to defeat this raid boss on their own if they bring Pokémon with the right moves. Qwilfish is a Water-/Poison-type that does not evolve. Because of Qwilfish's typing, it is weak to Ground- or Electric-, and Psychic-type Pokémon and is effective against Bug-, Fairy-, Fighting-, Fire-, Ice-, Poison-, Steel-, and, Water-types. Visually, Qwilfish resembles a light and dark green pufferfish.
Before players can participate in a raid, they will need to find a Raid Pass. Players can find these passes by spinning Poké Stops or collecting a free Pokémon GO remote Raid Pass each week from the in-game shop. Luckily, players can participate in as many raids as they have passes for, so they have multiple chances to catch Qwilfish and collect as many as they wish. Players may want to participate in several raids in order to increase their chances of finding a shiny Qwilfish, which is bright pink. Players can also use a Pinap Berry while catching Qwilfish to double the number of candies they receive. Of note, Pokémon caught this way can be traded between friends.
Electric, Psychic, and Ground-type Pokémon are super effective against Qwilfish. Easier to obtain counters that are still super effective include the Electric-types Manectric, Ampharos, and Zekrom with Electric-type moves like Charge Beam, Wild Charge, and Thunder Shock. Additionally, Landorus in Pokémon GO is an excellent Ground-type counter with moves like Mudshot, Earthquake, and Earth Power. Furthermore, players can use the easier-to-find Ground-type Pokémon such as Excadrill or Garchomp with moves like Mud Slap, Earthquake, and Mudshot. Finally, players can also opt for Psychic-type Pokémon such as Hoopa, Latios, or Mega Slowbro with moves including Zen Headbutt, Confusion, and Future Sight.
Qwilfish Raid Weaknesses in Pokémon GO
Players should avoid bringing Bug-, Fairy-, Fighting-, Fire-, Ice-, Poison-, Steel-, and Water-type moves to their raid because Qwilfish will resist these moves. This includes popular Water-type moves like Hydro Pump, Hydro Cannon, and Bubble. Bug-type moves to avoid include Struggle Bug and X-Scissor, while Fairy-type moves include Draining Wind and Charm. Additionally, players should avoid Fighting-type movesets in Pokémon GO like Counter and Dynamic Punch as well as Fire-type moves like Fire Spin and Fire. Furthermore, players Players should not bring Pokémon with Ice-type moves like Powder Snow or Avalanche, and they should also avoid Poison-type moves such as Acid and Sludge Bomb. Finally, players will want to avoid Steel-type moves like Metal Claw and Steel Wing.
Once the raid is defeated, the player will still have to catch Qwilfish successfully. Unfortunately, players only receive a limited number of balls to make the catch. Additionally, players can use berries to further improve their odds of successfully catching the Pokémon, such as a Razz Berry or Golden Razz Berry. For example, the Razz Berry will increase a player's odds by 1.5, while the rarer Golden Razz Berry increases their chances of a successful catch by 2.5. Golden Razz Berries can be obtained as rewards for completing raids or for completing some research tasks in Pokémon GO.
