Pokémon GO's many quests have added a new level of content to the augmented reality game that was not present at launch, increasing the number of activities for Trainers to complete during their time on the app. Since its introduction to Pokémon GO, there have been dozens of quests offering unique and powerful rewards for players determined enough to complete them. Each quest offers Trainers different rewards upon completion, but with the sheer amount of them in players' quest logs, it can be difficult to decide which objectives will lead the way to the most valuable rewards.

Pokémon GO's many quests will compensate players for their time with each completed task, sometimes rewarding them with XP or a unique Pokémon encounter. These rewards do not reveal themselves until they have been completed, meaning that some players may unintentionally work toward goals that weren't worth it in the first place. In order to save precious time, and complete objectives that will adequately reward Trainers, Pokémon GO players should look to the following quests and activities that are definitely worth the effort.

One of the most common quests that players can complete is called Research Breakthrough, which rotates its rewards every month of the year. Pokémon GO's Field Research mechanic was introduced into the game back in 2018, allowing players to accomplish smaller tasks daily and work toward a unique encounter after seven days. As of August 2021, the Pokémon encounter players can earn is a Chimecho. However, encounters in the past have included Legendary Pokémon like Johto's Legendary Beasts, Kanto's Legendary Birds, Lugia, and Ho-Oh. Additionally, players can earn 2,000 Stardust, 3,000 XP, and a Mystery Item that can include Poké Balls of varying qualities, Berries, Rare Candy, Sinnoh Stones, or a Unova Stone.

Pokémon GO's Quests Can Provide Legendary Rewards

Pokemon Go Mew

One of the rarest Pokémon in Pokémon GO (and many other games in the Pokémon franchise) is the elusive Mew, who is believed to be the genetic ancestor to all Pokémon. There are limited opportunities to catch Mew in the mainline Pokémon games, but Pokémon GO has dedicated an entire quest that will allow players to finally earn their own. The "A Mythical Discovery" quest can be quite difficult to complete, but offers increasing amounts of XP the further players progress through the steps. In total, "A Mythical Discovery" has eight steps to complete, and supplies players with 54,000 XP, 30,000 Stardust (not counting Stardust earned from catching Pokémon), and an assortment of valuable items like Poké Balls, Raid Passes, Lures, Revives, and Star Pieces. These rewards all accompany the guaranteed Mew encounter that players will receive upon completing "A Mythical Discovery," making it a Pokémon GO questline worth every Trainer's time.

Mew is not the only elusive Pokémon that Trainers can capture in Pokémon GO, with the adorable wish-granting Jirachi appearing in Pokémon GO's "A Thousand-Year Slumber" questline. Reaching Jirachi's guaranteed encounter can be an extremely difficult task, but Trainers should utilize gametime toward completing the quest's seven steps and many objectives. Unlike "A Mythical Discovery," Jirachi's questline rewards players with several rare encounters throughout the course of the quest: like Feebas, Snorlax, and Bronzong. Throughout "A Thousand-Year Slumber," players can earn up to 35,000 XP, 12,000 Stardust, Raid Passes, high quality berries, Star Pieces, and much more. Of course, the true prize of "A Thousand-Year Slumber" is the guaranteed Jirachi encounter, which will also grant players access to the Jirachi t-shirt outfit for their Trainers.

Leveling up, collecting new Pokémon, and experiencing exciting encounters within Pokémon GO are just a few of the many activities that players can experience in the augmented reality app. Wandering around and playing casually is one method of enjoying this game, but being given goals and direction with some of Pokémon GO's many quests is a surefire way to enjoy the game exponentially more. Players interested in pursuing these quests should look for Professor Willow's glowing icon in the bottom right of their screen in Pokémon GO.
