Rivals Week will take place from Tuesday, April 13th to Sunday, April 18th. During this time period, tons of new features and Pokemon will be introduced into the game. This week focuses on Pokemon that have a historical relationship of rivalry. Similar to Ash and Gary Oak from the Pokemon anime, these Pokemon will fight until the end of time. While this event will introduce new Pokemon, it will also bring along tons of older Pokemon with increased spawn rates. This might be a great chance to finish up any Special Research Tasks you are missing. Here is how to prepare for the upcoming Rivals Week.

How To Prepare For Rivals Week in Pokemon Go

Pokemon GO Skrelp Clauncher Rivals Week Therian Forme Landorus

Here is everything players should do to prepare for Rivals Week.

  • Be Ready For New Pokemon: Skrelp and Clauncher will be making their debut in the game. It is unknown their current evolutionary methods in Pokemon Go so make sure to use Pinap Berries when catching them to start grinding for candy.
  • Therian Forme Landorus: This new Therian Forme will begin to appear in Raid Battles. It's a Ground-type, making it weak to Water attacks. Make sure to bring friends to make the raid easier.
  • Star Pieces: The event will be adding x2 Stardust for catching Pokemon. Use a Star Piece and maximize your profits.
  • Complete Any Missing Team Rocket Research Tasks: Team Rocket Balloons will begin to appear more frequently. A great way to finish any missing tasks.
  • Increased Spawns: Hitmonchan, Hitmonlee, Makuhita, Meditite, Zangoose, and Seviper will appear more. If you need any of these Pokemon, now is your chance.

Pokemon Go hasn't announced if Rivals Week will have any Timed Research Tasks. For now, though, players should look forward to new Pokemon encounters. Skrelp and Clauncher are excellent additions to any player's collection.
