One of the biggest events of the years is coming to Pokemon Go. This guide will help players prepare for the upcoming Kanto Tour event. This year is a massive year not only with Pokemon Go celebrating its 5th anniversary, but also the Pokemon brand as a whole celebrating its 25th anniversary. Pokemon is the biggest multimedia franchise to ever exist and continues to be prevalent in the hearts and minds of players, anime watchers, and card game players around the world. To celebrate the event, Pokemon Go is hosting the Kanto Tour, a special event where the first 151 Pokemon are front and center to celebrate the series' origins. Here is what players can do to prepare for this event.

The Kanto Tour is a 12-hour event being held on February 20th, 2021. This is a premium event that will cost the player $11.99 to purchase the tickets. Players who picked up the tickets early were able to get free access to the Community Day special research tasks for January and February, which normally cost $1 each. During this time period, players will be able to choose between two different versions, Red or Green, and each comes along with their own exclusive Pokemon. Also, players have the chance to encounter Shiny versions of all the original 150 Pokemon. This is a great chance to fill out the holes in the Kanto Pokedex. Here is what players should do before the Kanto Tour event to prepare.

How To Prepare For the Kanto Tour Event in Pokemon Go

Here is what players should do to prepare for the Kanto Tour event in Pokemon Go.

  • Make a List: Create a strong list of the Pokemon you are missing from the Kanto region. As the day goes by, remove Pokemon from the list as you capture them to keep track.
  • Shiny Pokemon: Create another list of specific Shiny Pokemon you want to capture. While it will be hard to capture all of them, maybe a specific few will make the day a bit easier.
  • Use Star Pieces and Lucky Eggs: These will increase the amount of Stardust and EXP players will get. Since players will be capturing tons of Pokemon, these numbers will start to add up.
  • Understand each version: Red version comes along with Ekans, Oddish, Mankey, Growlithe, Scyther, and Electabuzz while Green Version brings along Sandshrew, Vulpix, Meowth, Bellsprout, Magmar, and Pinsir. Select the one that better suits what you need.
  • Purchase Raid Passes: Zapdos, Articuno, Moltres, and Mewtwo will be returning to the raid battles.

This is a great way for players to experience the first generation Pokemon if they joined much later into the game's life. The Pokemon series changed the world when it released Pokemon Go back in 2016. The game continues to host tons of events for its players and that won't change with the rest of 2021. More tour events will likely occur throughout the year.
