Cottonee Spotlight Hour is the first to happen in Pokemon Go this May. This guide will show players how to prepare for this Spotlight Hour. Pokemon Go releases a new Spotlight Hour every Tuesday for players to participate in. During this time period, players are able to focus on capturing a specific Pokemon with an additional bonus. The bonus is different every week but it may determine if a player is interested in participating or not. May comes along with a slew of new Spotlight Hours, each with their own benefits. The first one to begin this month's is Cottonee, the Grass-type Pokemon from the Unova region. This guide will show players how they can prepare for this upcoming Spotlight Hour.

Cottonee Spotlight Hour will take place on May 4th from 6 pm to 7 pm local time. Within this hour, players will also receive double the number of candy for capturing Pokemon. Since this event is all about capturing Pokemon as fast as possible, this is a great way to get enough candy to evolve Cottonee into Whimsicott. Not only that, but it's half Fairy-type and will have its Spotlight Hour during the Luminous Legends X event where more Fairy-type Pokemon will appear. Here are a few ways players can prepare for this event.

How To Prepare For Cottonee Spotlight Hour in Pokemon Go

Here are a few ways players can prepare for Cottonee Spotlight Hour.

  • Xerneas Raid Battles: If a Xerneas raid battle is available, participate in it and win. This will allow players to earn double the amount of Candy for capturing it. Use a Pinap Berry to earn even more when captured. This is great for players who want to be able to power up their Xerneas.
  • Lucky Egg: Since players will be capturing a ton of Cottonee, pop a Lucky Egg to earn double the XP along with double the candy.
  • Star Piece: Using this item will provide players with more Stardust. It's always recommended to use this to maximize your gains.
  • Other Fairy-type Pokemon: Spritzee and Swirlix will begin to appear on the same day. This is a great way to earn tons of candy for them early on.
  • Global Challenge: Players will need to capture 500 million Fairy-type Pokemon to unlock neat bonuses. This is a great way to add to that number by catching a ton of Cottonee.

Pokemon Go will continue to host more Spotlight Hours throughout the month. The next week will focus on Dratini. Take advantage of this limited-time event.
