Once again, the developers behind Pokémon Go are apologizing to players for technical issues that hindered a recent promotional event - this time for a Raid Day just before the annual Pokémon Go Fest that began late last week. The summer-long series of Pokémon GO Fest 2022 events will feature plenty of Raids and chances to catch rare Shiny variants of legendary creatures like Groudon and Kyogre, as well as a few surprises like a Pikachu dressed in a special Pokémon GO Fest 2022 costume. Pokémon GO Fest 2022 is being held in both virtual and live venues, and a social media campaign recently gave players a chance to win free tickets to the latter for finding a rare post containing a Golden Razz Berry.

Before the first event of Pokémon GO Fest 2022, players had the chance to capture Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire’s ocean-expanding Kyogre during a Raid Hour last Wednesday. However, those that attempted to log in during this Pokémon GO promotion encountered extreme lag and crashes that prevented them from being able to access the game in certain time zones. This made even getting to the already-rare Kyogre in Pokémon GO difficult, but thankfully developer Niantic announced that it has already addressed the undisclosed issue that caused this conundrum in the first place.

Yesterday afternoon, the official Pokémon GO Twitter account posted a message apologizing for the technical issues that took place during last week’s Pokémon GO Kyogre Raid Hour, as well as announcing a new event that will give players another chance to catch the Pokémon they may have missed out on the first time around. This new Raid Hour event will take place on June 10 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time in the 12 regions that were affected, and will allow players to catch Kyogre in both its normal and Shiny forms at an increased encounter rate. While some Pokémon GO players in the comment section are thankful for this second chance at catching a Kyogre, others believe that this is meager compensation for the many issues that plagued last week’s Pokémon GO Fest 2022 promotion.

This isn’t the first time that Pokémon GO has had to compensate players for technical issues encountered during a time-sensitive Raid, as disappointed fans who missed out during last month’s Mega Kangaskhan Raid Day were gifted with free in-game prizes. Way before that, developer Niantic gave away free gift boxes to players who were affected by a glitch that prevented Shiny Shadow Pokémon from appearing in November 2020. Nonetheless, Niantic and The Pokémon Company will press on with Pokémon GO Fest 2022 and various Raid Hour events - with a new one centered around Kyogre’s Ground-type nemesis Groudon taking place later today.

While it is unfortunate that players continue to encounter game-ruining glitches, crashes, and delays while participating in Pokémon GO’s many special events, at least the developers behind the hit augmented reality monster-collecting title are willing to compensate them for their troubles and missed opportunities. Pokémon GO fans from the game’s first 12 regions will get a second chance to capture Kyogre in both its normal and Shiny variants later this week.
