Niantic is offering Pokémon GO players who were affected by various issues during this week’s Mega Kangaskhan Raid Day event free items as an apology. Pokémon GO has hosted plenty of special in-game events, either to celebrate a particular Pokémon or promote an upcoming Pokémon game or movie - as well as various holiday celebrations. This year’s round of Pokémon GO events has included a Ditto-themed April Fool's Day celebration, the Festival of Colors event that introduced the Generation 7 Flying-type Oricorio, and Pokémon GO Lush Jungle which showcased Grass and Bug-types like Tapu Lele, Fomantis, and Lurantis.

The latest Pokémon GO event took place earlier this week and put the spotlight on Mega Kangaskhan, a powered-up version of the popular Generation 1 Normal-type that’s known for carrying an infant in its pouch like a real-world kangaroo. Fans were certainly excited for the chance to catch Mega Kangaskhan after it was added to Pokémon GO in March, to the point where some went as far as to bake Mega Kangaskhan-themed pies in preparation for the Raid Day. However, many Pokémon GO players who logged in on Sunday to track down the elusive parent-child duo had their experience hindered due to the difficulty levels for Kangaskhan being too high, with less Mega Energy being offered up as a reward for defeating it. The game also stopped handing out the Free Raid Passes two hours earlier than scheduled - meaning that some players missed out on the chance to participate in the event altogether.

Developer Niantic is aware of the many issues players encountered during this week’s Pokémon GO Mega Kangaskhan Raid Day event and is offering anyone who was affected a batch of free rewards to compensate them. According to the official Niantic Support Twitter account, Pokémon GO users from the nine regions that were negatively impacted during the Pokémon GO Mega Kangaskhan event can claim a free bundle containing five Premium Raid Passes and one Lucky Egg in the Shop from now until 5 PM GMT/10 AM PT, on Friday, May 6.

Niantic has plenty of other Mega Pokémon Raids planned for May, with Mega Latios, Mega Latias, and Mega Blastoise all being showcased from now until May 10, and Mega Altaria set to be featured in a week-long Raid starting Wednesday, May 25. Other big Pokémon GO events on the horizon for this month include the Water Festival, which will increase the spawn rates for Water Type Pokémon starting on May 12, and the Alola to Alola event that will feature Alolan Pokémon from Pokémon Sun and Moon. Additionally, Niantic and The Pokémon Company are preparing for June’s Pokémon GO Fest 2022 - though the high ticket prices in comparison to last year’s big event have left some fans less than thrilled.

Hopefully, these upcoming Pokémon GO events won't suffer from the same issues that impacted this week's Mega Kangaskhan Raid Day event, but it's nice to see that Niantic is compensating those that were affected with free in-game items. Players from the first nine Pokémon GO regions can pick up this free Pokémon GO bundle in the items shop from now until Friday.
