During the Water Festival event in Pokémon GO, Mega Blastoise will be appearing as a raid boss. The event starts on Thursday, May 12, and will be active until Friday, May 20. Aside from Mega Blastoise, there are some Pokémon making their debut as event raid bosses, like Tapu Fini and Scarf Lapras. Participating in the Water Festival event as often as possible will allow players to gather Energy for Blastoise so they can Mega Evolve it for future battles.

Mega Blastoise is a powerful raid boss that will be difficult to defeat, and it requires a few other trainers to join the battle. It's recommended that players invite at least four friends in Pokémon GO to win the Mega Blastoise raid. More trainers may be required to win depending on the Pokémon each player uses and the moves they know. Friends can be invited after the player joins a raid by using the invite button about halfway up on the right side of the screen.

Mega Blastoise has a base raid boss CP of about 54,000, but it can be increased if a rainy weather boost is active. A weather boost will also increase the range of CP that Blastoise can be caught at. It starts at 2,252 to 2,486 and can increase to a maximum of 2,815 while it's rainy. After defeating Mega Blastoise players will have the chance to capture Blastoise or its Shiny version in Pokémon GO.

Mega Blastoise is a Water-type raid boss and is weak against Electric- and Grass-type moves. Since this is a Mega raid boss in Pokémon GO, winning won't be possible with just any Grass- or Electric-type Pokémon. Players will need to use their most powerful team and take advantage of Fast and Charged TMs to optimize each Pokémon's moveset. TMs can be obtained by winning raids or completing certain research tasks.

When Mega Blastoise is defeated, players will receive Mega Energy and the chance to catch a Blastoise. This Pokémon may also appear as Shiny after the Mega raid boss in Pokémon GO is defeated. The number of attempts players will have to catch Blastoise depends on how quickly the raid boss was defeated, how much damage was dealt, and if trainers are on the same team. Defeating Mega Blastoise can be difficult, but it's the most reliable way to earn Mega Energy for Blastoise in Pokémon GO.
