The Pokémon Go holiday event for 2021 is finally here and features its own Field Research Tasks to complete. Every day, trainers can complete one of these to earn a stamp. For example, suppose they can collect seven stamps in total. In that case, the player will be rewarded with a Special Research Breakthrough featuring an exclusive Pokémon encounter, XP, and additional items to help on their quest. To celebrate the holiday season, Pokémon Go's holiday event is dedicated to Ice-type Pokémon. This event is being broken up into two different parts, where the first half will take place from December 12th to December 23rd.

A big reason to participate in this event is that trainers have the chance to encounter exclusive festive-themed Pokémon. These Pokémon will only appear when the event is active, making them incredibly valuable down the line. If lucky, players can run into a Pikachu wearing a Santa hat, Spheal wearing a green scarf, and Stantler with a special reindeer bell collar. For the Field Research, each Pokémon has the chance to appear in its Shiny form. It's incredibly rare but does give trainers a reason to clear these out as often as possible.

There are seven different Field Research Tasks for the Pokémon Go holiday event. Fortunately, one of them gives players the chance to find and capture Cryogonal, the newest Pokémon, to join the game. In addition, it has the chance to be one of the best competitive Ice-type Pokémon in the game. Trainers can obtain these tasks by swiping at PokéStops. These events challenges have a special label on the menu that makes them stand out from the rest. Since trainers are only allowed to carry three Field Research Tasks at a time, throw the ones away that aren't event-related. These are all the Field Research Tasks for the holiday event.

These tasks will be switched out starting on December 24th. As trainers look towards 2021, they have the upcoming Johto Tour to look forward to. While these Field Research tasks provide trainers with Johto Pokémon encounters like Swinub, that event will also offer the chance to capture all of their Shiny forms. Similar to the Pokémon Go Kanto Tour event that happened last year, this one will be a celebration of all things Johto. Until then, the second half of the holiday event will keep players occupied.
