A New Years' 2022 version of Slowking features a unique set of glasses in Pokémon Go. To kick off the New Year, Niantic held an in-game event where trainers could capture Pokémon with neat outfits. This includes the typical '2022' glasses, a Golden Tuxedo Hoothoot, and a Wurmple wearing a party hat. While many of these appear in the wild, only a handful can be obtained from winning Raid Battles. Instead, trainers can team up in groups of four or five to quickly take down the target.

It's important to mention that the New Year 2022 Slowking no longer appears in Raid Battles. This was directly attached to the Pokémon Go New Years' event. It concluded on January 4th and removed all the New Years' themed Pokémon. Although it's likely, it will return next year. Older Pokémon from previous New Years' events have made reoccurring appearances the following year. Trainers will still need to defeat the Slowking in order to capture it.

Slowking is a Water and Psychic-type Pokémon, giving it weaknesses to Bug, Ghost, Grass, Electric, and Dark-type moves. Therefore, it's essential to bring these types of Pokémon to win the battle quickly. To participate, trainers will need a Raid Pass. Fortunately, Niantic has been providing players with free Remote Raid Passes within the shop. These are the best Pokémon to defeat Slowking.

Pokémon Go: Glasses Slowking Raid Guide (January 2022)
  • Chandelure: Hex and Shadow Ball.
  • Darkrai: Snarl and Shadow Ball.
  • Gengar: Shadow Claw and Shadow Ball.
  • Hoopa Confined: Astonish and Shadow Ball.
  • Hoopa Unbound: Astonish and Shadow Ball.
  • Therian Forme Thundurus: Volt Switch and Thunderbolt.

Overall, if more players participate in the Raid Battle, it shouldn't be too difficult to complete. In the end, every trainer will be given a chance to capture it. Not only that, but there is a chance for it to appear in its Shiny form. Shiny forms of Pokémon from special seasonal events are incredibly rare. Since they only appear for a limited time, collecting them has become a hobby for many dedicated Pokémon fans.

Slowking works well in PvP as a special tank. Because it's both a Water and Psychic-type Pokémon, it can have a diverse move pool for both its Fast and Charged attacks. The Season of Heritage features its own set of rules for PvP. As the season continues, more content will be available, including the chance to catch more holiday Pokémon. Unfortunately, at this point, the only way to obtain it is through a trade.
