Genesect with a Shock Drive will soon be making its debut in Pokémon Go. Genesect is a legendary Pokémon that debuted back in Pokémon Black and White. It's an artificial Pokémon as it was made by man from the fossils of an ancient Pokémon. The mechanic that makes Genesect so interesting is its Drive Slot, which trainers are able to place a Disc inside and it will transform Genesect into that type, this makes Genesect incredibly versatile. Although this is how it works in the mainline series, it's much different in Pokémon Go.

For starters, Niantic has released different Genesect forms with alternate drives. For example, trainers were able to find and capture Burn Drive Genesect earlier in 2021. This drive made this Genesect learn A Fire-type move. Although it does not directly change the typing of the Genesect, it will remain as a Bug/Steel-type Pokémon regardless of the drive it has in Pokémon Go.

Shock Drive Genesect will be added to Pokémon Go through Raid Battles from Saturday, January 15, 2022, to Monday, January 24, 2022. This leaves players a little more than a week to find and defeat this Pokémon. Since this is a legendary Pokémon raid, players should aim to be in a group of at least five with other players, any less will make this battle incredibly challenging to defeat. Since Genesect is a Bug/Steel-type Pokémon, it's x4 weak to Fire-type attacks. These are the best Pokémon to bring along for this battle.

Trainers who successfully capture Genesect will have Techno Blast, a move that's exclusive to the Shock Drive Genesect. Players should aim to collect them all as they will only be available until the end of January. Unfortunately, its Shiny form is not yet in the game but it will likely be released during a future Unova event.
