Shiny Galarian Meowth is joining the roster of Pokemon Go, which is currently hosting its Ultra Unlock event as a reward for players completing the Global Challenges during Go Fest. As a result, the Ultra Unlock event is broken up into 3 categories, Time, Space, and Sword and Shield. The first two were initially announced as part of the event but the Sword and Shield section came as a surprise. Niantic has released every region in chronological order from their initial introduction in the mainline series up until now. With the release of Galar Pokemon coming before Alola, Galarian forms like Meowth are being given their own Shiny forms in Pokemon Go.

The thing that makes Shiny Pokemon so interesting for players is how rare they are. In the mainline titles, players coined the term "Shiny Hunting" where they dedicate a good chunk of their time looking for these color variations. Pokemon Go is a bit more forgiving when it comes to Shinies, but not every Pokemon has its Shiny form available in the game just yet. These are typically added to the game in a future update, or special events centered around these Pokemon. With Pokemon Go's Ultra Unlock Part 3: Sword and Shield, a handful of Galarian forms are adding their Shiny forms to the game. Here's how players can find Shiny Galarian Meowth.

How To Find (& Catch) Shiny Galarian Meowth in Pokemon Go

A Galarian Meowth in Pokemon Sword and Shield.

Shiny Galarian Meowth will be added to Pokemon Go as part of the Ultra Unlock Part 3: Sword and Shield event. This event begins on Friday, August 20th and its Shiny form will remain in the game after the event is over. Although during the event, players will have a much easier time finding one. Here are all the different ways players will have the chance to find its Shiny form.

  • In The Wild: Players might come across a Galarian Meowth when playing normally. It only has the chance to become Shiny, so continue to search for more of them out in the world.
  • Raid Battles: Ultra Unlock Part 3 will take place over 2 weeks and during the second week, Galarian Meowth will begin to appear in 1-star raid battles. This begins on Thursday, August 26th at 10 am.
  • Eggs: Galarian Meowth will hatch from 7km eggs.

The raid battles are a player's best chance of finding a Shiny Galarian Meowth. It will take a bit of patience, but that's how it goes when hunting for Shiny Pokemon.
