Finding a Shiny Cobalion is possible in Pokemon Go, if the player brings the correct raid counters. As the end of the year approaches, Pokemon Go will continue to host its seasonal events. Niantic is currently hosting a Halloween event. Once November comes around, this will be removed from the rotation to be replaced with new content. Starting in November, players will be given the chance to find Shiny versions of Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion. These Pokemon originate from the Unova region and players are given a limited time to capture plenty of Shiny Pokemon in Pokemon Go.

This legendary trio will go live in Pokemon Go from Friday, November 5th to Tuesday, November 16th, leaving players 11 days to find them all. They will replace the mythical Pokemon Darkrai, who currently resides in Five-Star raid battles. It's important to mention that finding a Shiny Pokemon is completely up to chance. It is more common for Shiny Pokemon to appear in raids, but the odds are still incredibly slim. Regardless, players will still need to bring along the best raid counters in order to win this battle. To find a Shiny Cobalion, the player needs to defeat it first.

Since this is a Five-Star raid battle, players will need to team up with at least five other players. Any less will make this battle difficult to complete. Players will also need to use a Raid Pass in order to join the lobby. Players can get free Remote Raid Passes in Pokemon Go from the shop. In the case that the lobby doesn't fill, either invite friends, or leave the room and try again. Cobalion is a Steel/Fighting-type Pokemon with a massive weakness in Fighting, Ground, and Fire-type moves. These are the best six Pokemon to bring along for this battle.

The Best Cobalion Raid Counters in Pokemon Go

  • Reshiram: Fire Fang and Overheat.
  • Darmanitan: Fire Fang and Overheat.
  • Lucario: Counter and Aura Sphere.
  • Chaneludure: Fire Spin and Overheat.
  • Conkeldurr: Counter and Dynamic Punch.
  • Blaziken: Counter and Blast Burn.

While these are the best raid counters, players should still focus on bringing a Pokemon with Fighting, Ground, or Fire-type moves, regardless if they make the list. Alternatively, players can also find and catch Pokemon like Mega Lopunny and Mega Charizard Y as powerful raid counters if they are available. During the capturing animation, the Cobalion will appear with sparkles to indicate that it's in its Shiny form. It's important to complete this hunt before the event comes to a close. This legendary trio will be replaced with a new Five-Star raid Pokemon. Shiny Cobalion is a darker blue with yellow highlighting its features. Cobalion is one of the rarest creatures in Pokemon Go.
