Shadow Zapdos will be making an appearance in Pokemon Go. This guide will show players how to find and capture this Pokemon. Shadow Pokemon has been a staple in the Pokemon series since the Nintendo Gamecube era with the release of Pokemon Colosseum. In that title, instead of traveling around the world to collect gym badges and become the Champion, players are tasked with saving Shadow Pokemon by stealing them from their trainers. The light in their hearts has been snuffed out so it is up to the player to go around the world and save them all. Shadow Pokemon then reappeared several years later in Pokemon Go as the way the game introduced Team Rocket to the mobile title. This is how players will be able to obtain a Shadow Zapdos.
Shadow Zapdos will begin appearing in the game starting in the first week of April. Similar to Articuno, players will need to find and defeat Giovanni to capture a Shadow Zapdos. Although, finding Giovanni isn't as easy as it sounds. Outside of him, there are hundreds of grunts and admins that stand in your way. How To Find (& Catch) Shadow Zapdos in Pokemon Go
Shadow Zapdos will be 1 of the 3 possible Pokemon Giovanni will have. In order to encounter him, players will need to use a Super Rocket Radar. The game features two different ways to obtain this item.
- The Higher They Fly: As a reward for completing the Special Research Task, players will be given a Super Rocket Radar to use. Check your Special Research Tasks to see if you've already done it or not.
- Timed Research: If you've already used the Super Rocket Radar from the Higher They Fly event, the game will be hosting a Team Go Rocket Timed Research Task at the start of April. The item will be made available as a reward.
Now, players can use this item to track down Giovanni. Shadow Zapdos will be his most powerful Pokemon. It is weak to both Ice and Rock-type moves, making it much easier to bring down his last Pokemon. Make sure to save one of these for your last Pokemon since the battle will be tough. Defeat it and make sure to use a Berry with every throw. It's much easier to capture this Pokemon than in Raid Battles, but the true challenge is taking down Giovanni. Do this, and Shadow Zapdos will be yours.
