Players can soon be able to catch Hoopa Unbound in Pokemon Go. Players have been able to find and capture the original Hoopa for quite some time, but players have been interested to see when they can access its Unbound form. It's normal for Pokemon to have alternate forms in the series but these are typically never displayed in Pokemon Go. Whenever a new form of an older Pokemon is introduced, there is no way to transform that Pokemon into the other form. Typically, Niantic just releases the alternate form as a completely separate Pokemon, that changes now with Hoopa Unbound.
Hoopa Unbound will be added to Pokemon Go starting on Friday, November 26th as part of the Mischief Unbound event. Players will need to complete the Misunderstood Mischief Special Research Task before this event since they will unlock a new Special Research story centered around Hoopa. During this event, players will also be able to earn double the catch XP and candy for transferring Pokemon. The event will come to a close on Monday, November 29th. Players who are unable to complete the Misunderstood Mischief Special Research can pick up the Mischief Unbound Special Research from the shop for about $5.
Pokemon Go players will be able to transform their Hoopa into Hoopa Unbound after completing the second set of steps for the Mischief Unbound Special Research. At this point, players should already have Hoopa from the Misunderstood Mischief Special Research. Now, players can freely transform their Hoopa between its base form and its Unbound form.
How To Get Hoopa Unbound in Pokemon Go
Players can change from normal Hoopa to Unbound by spending 50 Hoopa Candy and 10,000 Stardust. There's a wide variety of different ways to earn more candy in Pokemon Go. Players can set Hoopa as their buddy and walk with them to earn more candy based on the distance traveled. The game will also likely reward players with Hoopa candy for completing the Special Research tasks. Players can turn Hoopa Unbound back into its regular form by spending 10 Hoopa Candy and 2,000 Stardust. This is the first Pokemon that can transform and revert back outside of Mega Evolutions in Pokemon Go.
Hoopa Unbound can be one of the best Pokemon to use for Raid Battles. In Pokemon X and Y, the title where Hoopa made its debut, its Unbound form was only obtained through using the Prison Bottle item. Pokemon Go has yet to reveal Key Items into the game so it's fortunate that Hoopa doesn't need it to reach its Unbound form.
