There are all sorts of rare Pokémon that players can get in Pokémon Go including the rather unique Meloetta. The first appearance of Meloetta was in Pokémon Black/White and has appeared in several other Pokémon games since then, including Pokémon Go.

Meloetta has no evolutions, but it does have two different forms that players can catch, known as Aria and Pirouette. In its Aria form, it is a dual-type Normal/Psychic Pokémon. Its Pirouette form is a Normal and Fighting-type Pokémon. With these two different versions, they fulfill varying roles in team compositions, either for raids or against other players.

Meloetta is classified as a Mythical Pokémon, different from Legendary Pokémon. Legendary Pokémon usually are found during the course of the story of whichever Pokémon game they are in, and in Pokémon Go, this means they are found in five-star raids. Mythical Pokémon can only be captured in certain ways, usually at certain events.

Completing Special Research Tasks for Meloetta in Pokémon Go

Pokemon Go Raids

Meloetta appeared during Pokémon Go’s Go Fest 2021, and for players that missed out on that or couldn’t afford the cost, they can still get Meloetta from one of the Special Research Tasks titled “Finding Your Voice.”  Like other Special Research Tasks, players will have to complete a variety of objectives to finish different steps, with rewards upon completing each step. “Finding Your Voice” has six steps, and players can get a Meloetta at the end of step 4. They should aim to complete all the steps though, as it gives Meloetta candies as well.

Most of the tasks are easily completed, such as using 30 berries to help catch Pokémon, or players earning 5 candy by walking with their buddy. Some may take a while to achieve, like catching 30 normal-type Pokémon or evolving 15 Pokémon. Others can be a challenge, like defeating 3 Team Go Rocket grunts or battling in 3 raids. Some raids are challenging to beat without inviting friends. A special note here is that players only need to battle in the raids, not necessarily win them to complete the task.

It will likely take players some time to complete all these steps, but there is no time limit, so if players can’t regularly play or have trouble with a particular step, it isn’t an issue. They can complete the steps at their leisure and if they need to battle in Pokémon Go’s gyms, for example, they can power up their Pokémon to make them stronger. They will receive rewards along the way which will help them achieve their goal of finally getting the Meloetta.
