January has its own set of Spotlight Hours in Pokémon Go, and Niantic has released its full plans for the month ahead of time on an official blog post. In addition, Niantic has detailed Community Day events, Spotlight Hours, upcoming Pokémon releases, and other in-game events for January 2022. Every week, a new Spotlight Event takes place, increasing the spawn rate of a single Pokémon for one hour. Not only that, but each Spotlight Hour offers a small bonus that can be vital for leveling up and powering Pokémon.

These events are also great for building up candy for future evolutions. For example, Spotlight Hours can focus on fairly rare Pokémon, and January is no different. It takes place every Tuesday from 6 pm to 7 pm local time. Like Community Day events, Niantic reveals the Spotlight Hours beforehand so that Pokémon Go players can prepare for the upcoming event and take advantage of its bonuses.

The Spotlight Hours for January are centered around Solosis, Diglett, Plusle, and Minun. All but Solosis has a chance to appear Shiny when encountering. Since this event only lasts one hour, trainers should prioritize taking advantage of the active bonus. Each week has a different bonus to use. These are all the Spotlight Hours for January 2022.

Every January 2022 Spotlight Hour in Pokémon Go

Pokémon GO: Every January 2022 Spotlight Hour Guide
  • Solosis: January 4th from 6 pm to 7 pm. The Spotlight Bonus will give players double the candy for transferring Pokémon.
  • Diglett: January 11th from 6 pm to 7 pm. The Spotlight Bonus will give players double the Stardust for catching Pokémon.
  • Plusle: January 18th from 6 pm to 7 pm. The Spotlight Bonus will give players double the candy for catching Pokémon.
  • Minun: January 25th from 6 pm to 7 pm. The Spotlight Bonus will give players double the candy for transferring Pokémon.

The best way to prepare for these events is to clear out Pokémon Storage beforehand. It's common for players to have their Storage fill up during the event, and it's time-consuming. Not only that, but players must use at least two Incense during the event. This item increases the spawn rate of all Pokémon nearby the player, making it easier to find more Pokémon during this short period of time.

Using Pinap Berries during the Plusle Spotlight Hour will help players earn even more candy. The bonus will bring the total up to 6 Candy per capture. Using a Pinap Berry will bring this number to 12. While Plusle doesn't have much use in competitive play, it still might be someone's favorite.
