Niantic, the developer of Pokémon GO, has warned players that the Pokémon Skrelp and Clauncher have a glitch in the mobile AR app. This bug has rendered these two new water Pokémon invisible on the overworld, making it near impossible for players to find them.
Pokémon GO is an AR mobile app which lets Pokémon fans explore the real world and find Pokémon to catch and collect. These Pokémon are spawned all over the world, and the app uses the player’s real location to create a Pokémon-filled environment to explore and interact with. Pokémon GO lets players find these cute monsters to trade, train, fight and hatch. The AR game has been incredibly successful, putting out massive updates nearly 5 years since launching.
According to a recent tweet by developer Niantic, the support team has been made aware of an ongoing glitch. The support team says that players who are using an older build of the game are unable to see the new Pokémon. Those who have been experiencing this issue just need to go into either the Google Play Store or Apple App Store and update the Pokémon GO app manually to fix the issue. This will make both Skrelp and Clauncher visible on the overworld to players.
Skrelp and Clauncher were added to the Pokémon GO Rival’s Week event recently. Both of these Pokémon are from Pokémon X and Pokémon Y on the 3DS, as a part of the 6th generation of Pokémon. Skrelp is the Mock Kelp Pokémon, resembling a leafy sea dragon that lives in the ocean, and evolving into Dragalge. Clauncher is the Water Gun Pokémon. It resembles a crab and can shoot water from its claws, and it evolves into Clawitzer. As their corresponding Pokémon GO event indicates, these two creatures don't tend to get along in the series.
Pokémon GO is running a series of events in April, which includes the ongoing Rival's Week event. Next week, Pokémon GO will be running a Friendship Day Event on April 24 which will feature grass type Pokémon spawning more commonly throughout the day. Simultaneously, Pokémon GO will be running a Sustainability Event to promote Earth Day from April 20 to April 25. These in-game events are a great opportunity for players to fill their Pokédex and find shiny Pokémon in higher numbers.
