An exciting update has announced Pokémon GO will add new forms from the ancient Hisui region in its newest event, including the Hisuian variants of Braviary and Growlithe. Developer Niantic has hosted several special events within its blockbuster mobile-based monster-collecting title over the years, with the most recent round of promotions being centered around the tropical Alola region from Pokémon Sun and Moon. These special Pokémon GO promotions have introduced many of the unique Pokémon and regional forms, including cosmic Ultra Beasts like the massive and frightening Bug-type Buzzwole.

Now it appears Pokémon GO is shifting its focus toward the Hisui region of this year’s Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Set in a time before the mainline Pokémon series, Arceus’s depiction of Hisui represents Pokémon Diamond and Pearl’s Sinnoh as it was when humans first settled in the region and discovered the many untamed Pokémon that live within it. Hisui contains many regional forms of existing Pokémon that were seemingly lost to time, including a more wooden Hisuian Voltorb and Electrode that were brought into Pokémon GO back in February. Now, Pokémon GO is exploring the feudal region more closely as part of its new Hisuian Discoveries event, which is set to begin later this week and last until the beginning of August.

Yesterday, the official Pokémon GO website shed further light on which Pokémon will be available for players to collect when the Hisuian Discoveries event kicks off on Wednesday, June 27. Three new Hisuian regional forms will make their Pokémon GO debuts at this time: the fiery Hisuian Growlithe, the pufferfish-resembling Hisuian Qwilfish, and the small, ninja-like Hisuian Sneasel. These three Hisuian Pokémon can be hatched from eggs alongside the aforementioned Hisuian Voltorb, and Hisuian Qwilfish will appear more frequently in Wild Encounters alongside a host of existing Pokémon in both regular and Shiny varieties. Finally, the majestic Hisuian Braviary will also make its Pokémon GO debut during the Hisuian Discoveries Raid Day event on Sunday, July 31, as noted in a post on the official Pokémon GO Twitter account.

Each of these Hisuian Pokémon made their initial debuts in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, which was released on the Nintendo Switch to warm reviews earlier this year. While the unique Pokémon spin-off has been quickly overshadowed by the impending launch of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, many fans have praised Pokémon Legends: Arceus for its bold reimagining of the standard Pokémon gameplay and its look into the ancient history of Nintendo’s colorful Pokémon world. However, with the launch of Scarlet and Violent only months away, it seems unlikely Nintendo will follow up on the loose ends left behind in Pokémon Legends: Arceus with DLC anytime soon.

On the plus side, players who fell in love with the many special Hisuian variants introduced in Pokémon Legends: Arceus will be able to collect a few of them during this week’s Pokémon GO Hisuian Discoveries event, either by hatching creatures like Hisuian Growlithe, Hisuian Qwilfish, or Hisuian Sneasel from eggs or encountering Hisuian Braviary during a Raid. For those looking to participate, The Hisuian Discoveries event will begin on Wednesday, June 27 at 10 AM and last until Thursday, August 2 at 8 PM local time.
