The official Community Day for the month of February has been announced for Pokémon GO and will focus on the Flying/Grass-type Pokémon Hoppip. This will not be the only in-game event to happen during the month as the Pokémon GO Tour: Johto event will take place at the end of February.

Community Days did not become part of Niantic's augmented reality title until about a year and a half after the game's initial launch. Since January of 2018, Pokémon GO has reserved been one day every month dedicated to a specific Pokémon. On these designated days, the highlighted Pokémon will have increased spawn rates, a higher chance of Shiny versions spawning, and an increased likelihood that the Pokémon will have a unique move when captured. These bonuses are only available for this limited time, and players can also gain other bonuses like increased XP. However last month saw the introduction of two separate Community Days with the addition of a Pokémon GO Community Day Classic event featuring Bulbasaur.

Now players know that Hoppip will be the focus of the first Community Day for the month of February and the announcement from Pokémon GO gives further insight into what players can expect. One of the major rewards available to players can be acquired by evolving Skiploom, Hoppip's evolution, to Jumpluff during or up to two hours after the event. This unlocks the exclusive attack Charged Attack Acrobatics for the newly evolved Jumpluff. Players can also purchase a Hoppip centric exclusive Special Research story for $1.00. Other bonuses are also available during the event, which runs on Saturday, February 12, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time.

Pokémon GO Hoppip Community Day

The Ice/Water-type Pokémon Spheal was the other Community Day focus for January and both days took place during the still-running Season of Heritage. This in-game season actually started in December of last year and showcased a unique spin on the monthly tradition by focusing on multiple Pokémon from old Community Days. As of now, February only has one confirmed Community Day and it is unclear if Niantic plans to continue with further installments of the Community Day Classic event.

February is already looking to be a busy month in augment reality title. While January had its fair share of in-game festivities, nothing was nearly as extensive as the upcoming Johto Tour seems to be even though it too is only scheduled for one day. As a result, Pokémon GO players may only get one Community Day next month as the developer's focus may be inclined to focus on the considerably pricier tour event.
