Season 11's Battle League has started in Pokémon Go, and there are a lot of Pokémon who would be the best choices for the Great League. Season 11 began in June and will continue until September 1, 2022. Players can fight each other in PvP style in Pokémon Go, and to rank up, players need to build a powerful team with a variety of Pokémon types.

Since the GO League was introduced, there have been multiple league tiers. For example, the Great League is capped at 1500 CP, the Ultra League is capped at 2500 CP, and the Master League does not have a maximum CP limit. While the Great League has the lowest cap, it means that players often find an interesting mix of Pokémon that would ordinarily not be considered for a powerful battle team in Pokémon Go.

Choosing the right team does not mean picking the three Pokémon with the highest CP; not only may those highest Pokémon all be of the same type, but if they are the traditionally strong Pokémon, other players will build teams that specifically target them. To create a powerful Great League team for Season 11 of Pokémon Go, players should find Pokémon with many resistances and few weaknesses. This will help edge out the competition, and players can advance their rank through the GO Battle Leagues.

Best Team Compositions For the Season 11 Great League in Pokémon GO

While there can be endless combinations of strong Pokémon teams for the 1500 CP-capped Great League, here are six of the best Pokémon that players should consider when building a team for Season 11 of Pokémon Go's Battle League.

Galarian Stunfisk

The Stunfisk is a strange, sentient fish-bear trap hybrid creature that first appeared in Generation V in the mainline games Pokémon Black and White. However, the Galarian version of Stunfisk is a powerful choice for a Great League Team in Pokémon Go. Galarian Stunfisk offers:

  • Type: Ground/Steel
  • Fast Move: Mud Shot
  • Charged Moves: Rock Slide and Earthquake
  • Resistances: Bug, Dragon, Electric, Fairy, Flying, Normal, Poison, Psychic, Rock, and Steel
  • Weaknesses: Ground, Fighting, Fire, and Water

Azumarill

Azumarill was first introduced in Generation 2 in Pokémon Gold and Silver. Azumarill is the evolved version of Marill. It's a good choice for Pokémon Go's Great League because of its stats:

  • Type: Water/Fairy
  • Fast Move: Bubble
  • Charged Moves: Hydro Pump and Ice Beam will help against the Grass weakness, but Hydro Pump deals more damage.
  • Resistances: Bug, Dark, Dragon, Fighting, Fire, Ice, and Water
  • Weaknesses: Electric, Grass, and Poison

Walrein

Walrein is on many lists, so players may want to consider that others will also use Walrein. However, it's hard to deny Walrein's power in Pokémon GoOriginally from Generation 3 in the Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald games, Walrein is the evolved form of Sealeo.

  • Type: Ice/Water
  • Fast Move: Powder Snow; having an ice move makes it strong, and it generates energy quickly for a Charged Move
  • Charged Move: Icicle Spear and Earthquake
  • Resistances: Electric, Fairy, Fighting, Grass, and Water
  • Weaknesses: Fire, Flying, Ice, and Psychic

Skarmory

Skarmory is a standalone Pokémon that was first introduced in Generation Two in the Pokémon Gold and Silver games. Skarmory is used often in Pokémon Go Battle Leagues because it is also resistant to many types.

  • Type: Flying/Steel
  • Fast Move: Air Slash
  • Charged Move: Sky Attack and Flash Cannon
  • Resistances: Bug, Dragon, Fairy, Flying, Grass, Ground, Normal, Poison, Psychic, and Steel
  • Weaknesses: Electric and Fire

Altaria

Admittedly, Altaria in Pokémon Go is hard to get because it requires 400 Swablu candies to evolve. However, if players can get their hands on one, it's a powerful Pokémon that is hard to beat.

  • Type: Dragon/Flying
  • Fast Move: Dragon Breath
  • Charged Moves: Sky Attack and Dragon Pulse
  • Resistances: Bug, Fighting, Fire, Grass, Ground, and Water
  • Weaknesses: Dragon, Fairy, Ice, and Rock

Umbreon

Finally, for this short list is the Eevee evolution Umbreon. Umbreon first appeared in Generation Two in the Pokémon Gold and Silver games, and in Pokémon Go, it is powerful as a dark-type Pokémon. While Umbreon doesn't have as many resistances as the other Pokémon on the list, it has a high defense stat and lots of stamina.

  • Type: Dark
  • Fast Move: Snarl
  • Charged Moves: Last Resort and Dark Pulse
  • Resistances: Dark, Ghost, and Psychic
  • Weaknesses: Bug, Fairy, and Fighting
