Team Go Rocket Boss Giovanni once again returns to torment players in Pokémon GO in June 2023. Despite the new season 11: Hidden Gems starting in Pokémon GO, Team GO Rocket remains headed up by an old foe. Once players have defeated the three Team GO Rocket leaders, Cliff, Sierra, and Arlo, Giovanni will start appearing in Team GO Rocket balloons.
Following on from the recent Pokémon GO Rising Shadows Event, victory over Giovanni offers players the chance to catch another Shadow Pokémon. There are no major surprises in Giovanni's team this month with many of the Team GO Rocket Bosses favorites returning for June 2023 according to PokemonGoHub.
Giovanni's Team in June 2023 in Pokémon GO
This includes three of the same Pokémon from Giovanni's Pokémon GO Team in April 2023. As always, Giovanni starts with his favorite Normal-type Pokémon Persian, which can surprisingly deal a lot of damage so needs to be taken down quickly. Giovanni's second Pokémon will be one of Nidoking, Kingler, and Kingdra.
However, the real test comes with the Bosses final Pokémon, Ice-type Regice, who can take a lot of damage. All of Giovanni's line-up are Shadow Pokémon, making them much stronger than the normal variants.

Best Pokémon GO counters for Giovanni in June 2023
As always trainers will want to focus on picking Pokémon that Giovanni's are weak against. Trainers will see that Persian and Regice are both weak against Fighting types meaning at least one should be included. Starting with a Fighting-type, such as Machamp, against Persian can put players in control early on. However, including two Fighting types in a team also has its advantages, once trainers reach Regice there should still be enough firepower to defeat it.
For Giovanni's second Pokémon possibilities, it is best to pick dual-types that can match up against more than one opponent. Water- and Fairy-type Primarina is a great option due to being super-effective against Nidoking and Kingdra. Electric- and Steel-type Magnezone is also super-effective against two of Giovanni's Pokémon, Kingler and Regice.
