Niantic has released its August 2022 content update for Pokémon GO which includes the return of several Legendary Pokémon for Five-Star Raids, and a number of activities to finish the Season of GO. The third and final month of this season in Pokémon GO will give trainers the opportunity to get their hands on Palkia, Zacian, and Zamazenta once more. Additionally, Mega Pokémon Raids against Abomasnow, Slowbro, and Ampharos will be active and returning throughout the month, and an unrevealed Mega Pokémon Raid is set to arrive early in August as well.
Genesect, the Mythical Bug- and Steel-type Pokémon, will be returning to Five-Star Raids throughout August as well. In the past, Douse Drive and Shock Drive Genesect Raids in Pokémon GO allowed trainers to catch the Mythical Pokémon with the Water- and Electric-type versions of Techno Blast, respectively. However, the Genesect that will appear in Five-Star Raids this month will have a different Drive than it had in its past appearances, according to Niantic's content update. This Genesect is also set to appear twice throughout the month during Raid Hours, but for now, it is unclear whether or not these Genesects will have the same Drive or different ones from week to week.
New Spotlight Hours, Community Day features and rewards, Research Breakthrough encounters, and more will be available in Pokémon GO throughout August 2022. Additionally, the Pokémon GO Fest 2022 finale will provide players the opportunity to encounter Ultra Beasts and another returning Mythical Pokémon. Niantic has also stated that new features in Pokémon GO will improve the game's language accessibly later this month, allowing players to select the language of their choice from available options regardless of the language used on their device.

Pokémon GO Fest 2022
- Pokémon GO Fest: Sapporo, Japan - Friday, August 5, 2022, to Sunday, August 7, 2022
- Pokémon GO Fest 2022: Finale - Saturday, August 27, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time. During the Pokémon GO Fest 2022 finale, the Ultra Beasts Nihilego, Pheromosa, Buzzwole, and Xurkitree will be gathered and available to encounter. The Pokémon GO Fest 2022 finale can be experienced by trainers throughout the world, and they'll be able to discover Pokémon that they may not normally see in the wild. Additionally, players can encounter the Sky Forme Mythical Pokémon Shaymin during the 2022 GO Fest finale by completing Special Research.
- Professor Willow Story: Professor Willow was sucked into Ultra Space through a wormhole and the story's conclusion will be available to complete during the Pokémon GO Fest 2022 finale.
- Daily Adventure Incense: Every day for 15 minutes, players can begin to use a special Incense that attracts Pokémon not normally seen in a trainer's area. There is also a chance to attract Legendary Pokémon through this Incense - possibly the Galarian versions of Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres, according to information revealed during the Pokémon Presents on August 3, 2022.
August Community Day (& Event Bonuses)
- Galarian Zigzagoon: Saturday, August 13, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. local time. During the August 2022 Community Day, Galarian Zigzagoon will appear more frequently in the wild, and players have an increased chance of finding a shiny one.
- Obstagoon with Obstruct: Trainers have up to five hours after the event ends to evolve Galarian Linoone into an Obstagoon that knows the Charged Attack Obstruct. During trainer battles, Obstruct has a 15 power and is guaranteed to increase the user's Defense while simultaneously lowering the opponent's. During Gym battles and raids, Obstruct has 20 power.
- Community Day Special Research Story: For US$1.00 or pricing equivalent, trainers will get access to the Community Day exclusive Special Research story, Field Notes: Galaraian Zigzagoon
- 3x Catch Stardust
- 2x Candy for catching Pokémon
- Incense: Lasts for three hours when activated during the event
- Additional Special Trade: This bonus is active from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time
- XL Candy: 2x chance for trainers level 31 and up to receive XL Candy from catching Pokémon
- Lure Modules: Lasts for three hours when activated during the event
- Snapshot Surprise: Take a few snapshots during Community Day for a surprise
- 50% Less Stardust Required for Trades: This bonus is active from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time
- Group Bonuses: From 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. local time, the 3x Stardust bonus for catching Pokémon near a Lured PokéStop will be increased to a 4x bonus Stardust for 30 minutes if enough Pokémon are captured from a single Lure Module
- Timed Research: Complete the Galarian Zigzagoon Timed Research from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time to receive an Obstagoon Hat, Obstagoon Glasses, Obstagoon Gloves, and Obstagoon Pose
- Stickers: Get event-themed stickers by spinning PokéStops, opening Gifts, and purchasing them from the in-game shop
All Raid Battles
- Galarian Linoone: Saturday, August 13, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time. This is a Four Star Raid Battle in Pokémon GO. Claiming victory will cause more Galarian Zigzagoon to appear around the Gym that hosted the raid for 30 minutes, and Shiny Galarian Zigzagoon has the same chance of appearing here as it does during the Community Day event. These raids can only be joined by using Raid Passes and Premium Battle Passes. Remote Raid Passes cannot be used to enter the Galarian Linoone Raids.
