A dedicated, pet-loving fan of Pokémon recently recreated the pocket-monster gaming experience with the help of their cats, costumes, and custom made play sets. Last year the Pokémon brand celebrated its 25-year anniversary as it remains a stalwart in pop culture thanks to a dedicated fanbase and steady stream of content across multiple mediums.

Over the years, fans have shown their love for the franchise in a multitude of tributes that often sees the pocket monsters crossing over with some other well-known intellectual properties in fan art. It is a wide range that stretches from the likes of Pokémon as Elden Ring monsters to seeing the same creatures through a Marvel inspired lens. Then there are times where fans simply show their love for the franchise all on its own and produce incredible works of art such as a Pokémon tapestry that took 8-years to complete.

The latest addition to the extensive catalog of Pokémon tributes comes from Reddit user GoroandLuca. With the help of their two cats along with some do it yourself costumes and play sets, the Reddit user was able to perfectly create the Pokémon gaming experience complete with "start" menu as well as the iconic process of selecting a starter Pokémon. GoroandLuca provided a link in the comments to a longer version on the YouTube channel Costume Cat that further summarizes the video games; the video includes gym battles, grinding, and wild encounters.

This is not the first time the stars of this Pokémon recreation have been part of a tribute for well-known intellectual property. They have also appeared in multiple Mario videos done in a similar style as well as one for Zelda. The pair of cats has also expanded beyond the world of Nintendo for the likes of Star Wars, Minecraft, and more.

As voiced in the comments on both Reddit and YouTube, this Pokémon tribute perfectly hits the tone it is going for. This creator clearly has a lot of practice when it comes to creating these types of videos, and they should be recognized for all the work that must go into this type of production. It requires a lot of patience to not only create the sets and costumes by hand, but also to get enough usable footage with the animals that conveys the feeling they are trying to create. There will likely be many more videos with these feline stars in the future, but it remains to be seen which intellectual properties they will take on next.
