Eevee has long been considered a secondary mascot of the Pokémon franchise. As a Generation 1 Pokémon, there have been many years for Eevee to gain a large following and, of course, it is adorable. However, it is Eevee’s evolutions, which fans often refer to as Eeveelutions, that make it a standout amongst the many other Pokémon in the franchise.

Eevee has 8 different evolution forms, and each of the Eeveelutions is a different type with a unique design. In fact, it is possible to have an entire team of just Eeveelutions that would be strong against teams made of several different species of Pokémon. Shiny Pokémon are different in color than are typical for their species and they are incredibly rare, so making a team of these can be difficult.

However, even though players of Pokémon games rarely know what to expect when hunting for monsters, it is especially exciting to catch a Shiny Pokémon because of its rarity and more unique designs.  An unevolved Eevee’s Shiny form, for example, has white fur instead of brown. Likewise, the Pokémon Eeveelutions each have Shiny versions.

Pokémon Eeveelutions: Vaporeon’s Shiny

Pokémon Vaporeon Shiny Eeveelution

There are three Eeveelutions that were introduced in Gen 1 of Pokémon and the first of those is Vaporeon. Eevee will become this Water-type Eeveelution when exposed to a Water Stone. A typical Vaporeon is a light blue with dark blue markings and yellow fins on its head. As a Shiny Pokémon, Vaporeon’s blue coloring is exchanged for a beautiful purple and its fins become creamier in color.

Pokémon Eeveelutions: Jolteon’s Shiny

Eevee will evolve into Jolteon when exposed to the Thunder Stone. As an Electric-type Pokémon, Jolteon is a golden yellow with spiky fur as if it has just been electrocuted. Although the white fur around this Eeveelution’s neck remains in its Shiny version, the rest of its fur becomes lime green.

Pokémon Eeveelutions: Flareon’s Shiny

Flareon evolves with the help of a Fire Stone as it is a Fire-type Pokémon. Regular Flareons are mostly an orange-red color with fluffy yellow fur for their tails, on top of their heads, and around their necks. Shiny Flareons have much less red in their fur, making orange their primary color instead.

Pokémon Eeveelutions: Espeon’s Shiny

Espeon’s Shiny version is perhaps one of the most surprising of the Eeveelutions. This Gen 2 Psychic-type Pokémon evolves from Eevee with high friendship in the mainline Pokémon games. Notably, Eevees with high friendship will only become an Espeon if it evolves during the day.

Most Espeons have a light mauve or lilac coloring and purple eyes. As a Shiny Pokémon, though, Espeon turns into a vibrant, neon green and has eyes that are deep blue.

Pokémon Eeveelutions: Umbreon’s Shiny

As Espeon’s Dark-type counterpart, Umbreon is evolved with high friendship at nighttime. This Eeveelution remains all black even as a Shiny Pokémon, but there are a few differences. A bright blue replaces Umbreon's typical yellow markings on its legs, tail, ears, and between its eyes. Just as with Espeon, its eyes also change in color - this time, from red to yellow.

Pokémon Eeveelutions: Leafeon’s Shiny

Of all the Eeveelutions, the Grass-type Leafeon has the most minor changes between its regular version and its Shiny. This Gen 4 Pokémon evolves from Eevee either when near a Moss Rock or when exposed to a Leaf Stone. Leafeon’s cream-colored fur and brown feet, eyes, and ears are all darker if it is Shiny. Additionally, the green accents of Leafeon’s usual coloring are less vibrant in comparison to the Shiny version.

Pokémon Eeveelutions: Glaceon’s Shiny

Glaceon’s Shiny might actually represent it as an Ice-type better than the original version. After evolving with the help of an Ice Rock or Ice Stone, this Eeveelution will have a teal blue body with darker teal-toned features. However, Shiny Glaceon is a light icy blue in color, particularly on its body and the adornment on its head.

Pokémon Eeveelutions: Sylveon’s Shiny

Eevee will evolve into Sylveon when it knows a Fairy-type move and has high Affection or Friendship. Unlike other Eeveelutions, this Gen 6 Pokémon’s Shiny is easily distinguished from its regular version. Essentially, the two just swap colorations. In areas of its head, eyes, tail, feet, and bows that are typically pink, Shiny Sylveon is blue; where the original is blue, the Shiny version is pink. One of the best parts of catching an Eevee in Pokémon is deciding which Eeveelution it should evolve into, and that is especially true if it is a Shiny.
