A new trailer for Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl has revealed the updated designs for more of the original games' Gym Leaders and Team Galactic, and it also shows the Lake Guardians in action. Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are remakes of the Gen 4 Pokémon games for the Nintendo DS, and they appear to be sticking closely to the aesthetics of the original games despite the transition to 3D graphics.

It was broadly assumed Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl would use content from Pokémon Platinum, as it was the upgraded version of the original duo of games. This doesn't seem to be the case, though, as content shown in the new trailer suggests the remakes will be much closer to the original releases in terms of content. This has led to speculation about Pokémon Platinum content possibly returning as DLC, but it's possible the more complete release's changes and additions could be ignored altogether.

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl trailer reveals some returning characters' redesigns for the remake's new art style, including two of the most difficult Pokémon Gym Leaders faced in the Sinnoh region. The first is Snowpoint City Gym Leader Candice, who specializes in Ice-type Pokémon. In Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, Candice's main Pokémon was an Abomasnow with high attack stats. In Pokémon Platinum, she added a Froslass to her team, which used the Snow Cloak ability in synergy with Abomasnow's Snow Warning move. The second Gym Leader shown is Naruto Minato lookalike Volkner, Sunyshore City's Electric-type expert. Volkner brings out a mighty Electivire in Platinum, but his entire team can be easily bested by a sturdy Ground-type Pokémon.

The trailer also unveiled the new designs for Pokémon Diamond and Pearl's Team Galactic commanders, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. The new look of Team Galactic leader Cyrus was also shown. The Team Galactic members have their own unique, starry battlefield whenever they face the player in a Pokémon battle. The Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl trailer also featured a glimpse of the Lake Guardians, Azelf, Mesprit, and Uxie, three of the Legendary Pokémon that reside in caves throughout the Sinnoh region. In the original games, they were captured by Team Galactic and used as part of the plot to control Dialga or Palkia. After completing the main story quest, players could attempt to catch the Lake Guardians for themselves.

The release of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl is almost here, and The Pokémon Company is slowly filtering out information to hype up the remakes. The in-battle character models in the game seem to reflect their original designs well, and the Sinnoh Gym Leaders and Team Galactic members' new looks will likely go down well with fans of the DS games (with the possible exception of their chibi overworld models, depending on personal preference).
