Trainers in Pokémon: Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl can obtain a Mew, Jirachi, and Manaphy all before acquiring the second gym badge. Each of these Mythical Pokémon are extremely strong in Sinnoh. They have high base stats and can easily beat any of the trainers encountered at the beginning of their journey. While these Pokémon could seem like a gift, battles are created around the Pokémon found in the first few routes. In Pokémon BDSP, Mew, Jirachi, and Manaphy completely upset the balance of the game, by giving fans access to strong moves early, that will effortlessly defeat their opponents.

Since the Pokémon games are single-player, trainers can choose to play however they wish, and over-leveling Pokémon is a common practice when struggling in a battle. Each level makes a Pokémon stronger, allowing them to learn new moves, and giving them the opportunity to evolve, boosting stats tremendously. While different, both Legendary and Mythical Pokémon take away from the sense of accomplishment felt when gaining a gym badge, with the team members a trainer has caught and trained. Mew, Jirachi, and Manaphy in BDSP are given to players without putting in any effort and result in a cheap victory.

Trainers can obtain the first of these Mythical Pokémon after acquiring the first gym badge. Players must head North of Jubilife City to Floaroma Town and speak to an old woman. If there is save data from Let's Go, Pikachu! or Let's Go, Eevee! on the Nintendo Switch console, the woman in a flower field near the entrance will gift the trainer a Mew. Mew is partially responsible for the series' popularity after the initial release. This powerful Pokémon is able to learn any TM or HM and is a pure Psychic-type. Jirachi can also be obtained in the same fashion by talking to an old man located to the left of the old woman. He gives players Jirachi for having save data from either Pokémon Sword or Shield on the console. Known as the Wish Pokémon, Jirachi is a Steel/Psychic-type. He has been in many games since his first appearance in Generation III. Both of these Mythical Pokémon boast high stats with excellent movesets and make fights too easy in Pokémon BDSP.

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl's Mythical Pokémon Upset The Balance

Pokémon BDSP: Every Active Mystery Gift Code (December 2021)

Players can receive Manaphy even earlier than Mew and Jirachi in Pokémon BDSP. The Mystery Gift feature must first be unlocked by heading to the Jubilife TV building. After talking to a TV Producer and answering his question by selecting the answer that includes the word "Wi-Fi," this function will be unlocked on the menu screen. The Manaphy Egg can be acquired through the Mystery Gift feature and must be hatched to obtain the Pokémon. Unlike the other two, Manaphy is an early adopter bonus and can only be received before February 2022.

All three Mythical Pokémon have 600 base stats and learn moves much more powerful than the other monsters caught on the early-game routes. The opposing trainers and gym leaders are balanced around the Pokémon the players should have at the time. Mythical Pokémon are not factored into the equation and give an unfair advantage to new trainers. If overpowering opponents sounds fun, then players of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl should consider adding these Pokémon to their team.
