In Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearlplayers can catch and train the best Fairy-type Pokémon for their competitive teams. The addition of Fairy-type Pokémon to the Sinnoh region is one of the many quality-of-life features included the generation four remakes. Fairy-type Pokémon were originally introduced in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, and, since that time, trainers have been looking to add Fairy-type Pokémon to their competitive teams.

Although Fairy-type Pokémon weren't added until after the original Diamond and Pearl, they've quickly become a major part of competitive Pokémon battles. Fairy-type Pokémon in BDSP have full immunity to all Dragon-type moves, and Fairy-type moves deal 2x damage to Dark-, Fighting-, and Dragon-type Pokémon. Fairy-type Pokémon also receive 2x damage from Steel- and Poison-type Pokémon, while dealing half damage to both of those types and Fire-type Pokémon as well.

The best Fairy-type Pokémon in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are Togekiss, Gardevoir, Clefable, and Azumarill. Trainers can actually get each of these Pokémon before they obtain the National Dex in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Togepi and Ralts can both be found in the Fountainspring Cave in the Grand Underground. While Ralts will evolve into Gardevoir through leveling up, trainers will need to find a Shiny Stone in Pokémon BDSP to evolve Togetic into Togekiss. Both Clefairy and Marill can be found in the Trophy Garden, but Clefairy can also be found at Mount Coronet and Marill can also be found in the Great Marsh. Marill evolves into Azumarill by leveling up, and Clefairy evolves into Clefable with the use of a Moon Stone.

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl's Best Competitive Team

Having a Fairy-type Pokémon like Togekiss, Gardevoir, Clefable, or Azumarill on a competitive team in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl is something trainers will want to consider. There is no question about the value of Fairy-types, especially because these particular Pokémon were all converted to a dual Fairy-type or full Fairy-type later on. This means that they all retain access to their previous movepool in addition to gaining access to Fairy-type moves.

Togekiss is the best Fairy-type option that trainers have available, and it's also part of the best competitive team in Pokémon BDSP. Although it doesn't have a Fairy-type move in this build, Togekiss still has the benefits of Fairy-type resistances and immunities. Likewise, Gardevoir, Clefable, and Azumarill were all great choices before the addition of Fairy-type Pokémon, but their updated typing in BDSP allows them to build upon their offensive strengths.
