In the Pokémon: Sword & Shield Crown Tundra DLC, players embark on a quest to help the Legendary Calyrex reclaim his power so he can rule benevolently over his kingdom once more. However, at the story's climax, Calyrex challenges players to a battle allowing the player an opportunity to catch Calyrex in his peak condition. After Calyrex is caught, players are actually able to infuse Calyrex and his steed to make two separate Pokémon.
Part of the Crown Tundra's storyline requires the player to track down one of two horse legendaries: Spectrier and Glastrier. When players battle Calyrex, he will be riding on either horse that the player chooses in a new, more powerful form. When players catch Calyrex, he will still be attached to his steed but they can be separated. This guide will teach players how to separate Calyrex from Spectrier.
Separating Clayrex And Spectrier in Pokémon: Sword & Shield
After catching Clayrex, players will first need to make sure they have an empty slot in the part for either Spectrier or Glatrier to fill once the two are separated. After a space is cleared, players will need to use the Reigns of Unity item found in the Key Items pocket in their inventory. This is a story item that all players should have if they have progressed the story far enough to capture Calyrex. Use this item on the fused Clayrex and the two Pokémon will split.
The player can also fuse the two Legendaries together again by having them both in the player's party and using the Reigns of Unity on Clayrex again. This process can also be repeated an infinite number of times. It is important to note that the two are stronger when fused with one another, but they are still strong Pokémon when separated. They will no longer be able to use their special move Astral Barrage, but they will each have their own unique abilities.
This is the exact same process for both Spectrier and Glastrier. Each horse's Reigns of Unity will have a different icon in the Key Items pocket, but both have the same effect. The Reins of Unity cannot be discarded, consumed, or held by a Pokémon so players do not need to worry about losing these items. Also, Calyrex can fuse with Galstrier or Spectrier regardless of whether it was caught or traded.
