Pokémon Center's Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl shipments are feared to be delayed, and customers are voicing their frustrations online. Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl reviews have been generally favorable to the Nintendo Switch remakes' for their overall faithfulness to the original Diamond and Pearl games, but there are some major changes and additions to be found in the new versions.

While the Gen 4 remakes capture the original spirit of the 2006 titles, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl do make some significant adjustments for a modern audience. Many characters have been redesigned for the remakes, and the games have a new art style described as either recognizable or jarring by long-time players. Gym battles have been updated with new Pokémon movesets, making some of them more challenging while adding surprises for veteran trainers. An entirely new location, Ramanas Park, has also replaced the original games' Pal Park, and it's stocked with Legendary Pokémon encounters based on which version they own. Pokémon Diamond and Pearl's Amity Square has also been adjusted, allowing all six of the player's current creature companions to follow them around.

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl released for Nintendo Switch on Friday, but angry customers have taken to Twitter to spotlight shipping issues they're experiencing with Pokémon Center BDSP pre-orders. Many have yet to receive confirmation emails from the official Pokémon storefront, leading some to fear their orders have potentially been lost or otherwise delayed. Although there are customers who have been able to track their Pokémon Center packages through delivery services like FedEx, many others say they've been left in the dark about the status of their Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl orders. As a joke, Twitter user LabiWasabi even loaded up the original Pokémon Pearl on a Nintendo DS, hastily pasted the word "shining" over the title screen, and thanked Pokémon Center for a timely "delivery." With the business day nearing its end, it seems some people who pre-ordered the Pokémon remakes may not be receiving their shipments on time, and the official Pokémon Center (of all places) is seemingly to blame.

While critics have praised Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl's fidelity despite some faults, dissenters have expressed disappointment at changes made to the remakes. Redesigns of the 2006 installments' characters and setting haven't been universally popular, with some preferring the art style of the original games. Many others have criticized the remake's battle timer, which limits online trainer battles in a way that the Nintendo DS games did not. Pokémon BDSP's 20-minute battle timer was divisively introduced in Pokémon Sword and Shield, and the Sinnoh remakes keep this mechanic in an attempt to make battles faster-paced. While battle timers did exist in prior games, Sword and Shield was responsible for decreasing the battle time to only 20 minutes.

As with most new releases in the franchise, many Pokémon fans are eager to get their hands on Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, especially those who pre-ordered the games. Unfortunately, Pokémon Center pre-order shipments seem to be suffering from miscommunicated tracking or a possible delay.
