The Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl remakes faithfully recreated the Sinnoh region 15 years after the original games released, with the Trophy Garden including rare and baby Pokémon for players to find. Located on Route 212, the Trophy Garden is owned by Mr. Backlot, who also owns Amity Square in the nearby Hearthome City. He's a wealthy man who loves cute Pokémon, and they love him too because they visit his mansion's backyard, where players can catch them.

Mr. Backlot's Trophy Garden is small, but its offerings prove that it's mighty. The garden is an interesting environment because certain Pokémon species spawn in it all the time while others rotate daily. This means that players must check back daily for new opportunities to find rare Pokémon species that aren't found anywhere else in Sinnoh. Players can even "see" Manaphy for their Pokédex in Mr. Backlot's mansion, proving that he's a true Pokémon collector.

Pokémon BDSP's Trophy Garden gets visited by both baby and rare Pokémon, some of which can't be obtained outside of this area. Normal Pokémon like Staravia and Roselia appear as well to accompany the garden's rotating monsters, but these standard Pokémon can be found elsewhere. The baby and rare Pokémon's appearances in the Trophy Garden are special not only because some of them can't be obtained elsewhere, but also because the ones who can be obtained elsewhere are harder to acquire than if players catch them on Mr. Backlot's property.

Baby Pokémon To Catch In BDSP's Trophy Garden

Outside of Mr. Backlot's property, baby Pokémon can only be obtained via breeding, and most require an Incense item. For example, if Mr. Mime is bred holding an Odd Incense, its Egg will spawn a Mime Jr. If it's not holding the Odd Incense, a Mr. Mime will hatch. However, the Trophy Garden is a workaround to this, with babies like Mime Jr., Cleffa, and Azurill visiting depending on the day. This is excellent for the games' story because Incense items aren't typically available early on, so this provides players with a way to use a Mime Jr. or Bonsly on their teams (without having to breed one) so they can create their best Pokémon team possible in BDSP.

Outside of baby Pokémon and the likes of Staravia, Kricketune, and Pikachu who regularly appear in the garden, Mr. Backlot receives even rarer Pokémon that can help players fill their Pokédex. For example, players can traditionally find only one Eevee in the game, which comes as an Egg from Bebe in the post-game. However, Eevee will sometimes visit the Trophy Garden. The same goes for Porygon and Castform, two manmade Pokémon who can't be found elsewhere in Sinnoh. The general theme for the Trophy Garden is small, cute Pokémon, so Plusle, Minun, and Meowth also visit sometimes. Chansey's inclusion is great for players who want to level up fast in Pokémon BDSP, too.

The following Pokémon can be found in Mr. Backlot's Trophy Garden:

  • Staravia
  • Roselia
  • Pichu
  • Kricketune
  • Pikachu
  • Clefairy
  • Jigglypuff
  • Meowth
  • Chansey
  • Eevee
  • Porygon
  • Cleffa
  • Igglybuff
  • Marill
  • Azurill
  • Plusle
  • Minun
  • Castform
  • Bonsly
  • Mime Jr.
  • Happiny

The Trophy Garden in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl is a location true Pokémon collectors will want to repeatedly visit. These monsters are perfect to raise during a playthrough, and some, like Castform, only appear once the player has received the National Pokédex. It even contains many of the Fairy-type Pokémon added to BDSP's Sinnoh region, providing further incentive for players to check back throughout their journey.
