In Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, players have the option to change their clothing and hairstyles. In addition, there are several options available to allow players to customize their character as they explore the Sinnoh region. While the game offers the option to players to change their character's hairstyle, it doesn't exactly work the same way as it does in some of the more recent Pokémon games.
To unlock the option to change their look, players must first reach Veilstone City. As the story unfolds in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, this city is home to the third gym leader, Maylene. Veilstone City also is where the Metronome Style Shop is located, just south of the city’s Pokémon Center. The Metronome Style Shop, with a purple roof adorned with two Clefairy, is where players can purchase clothing and accompanying hairstyles to change their look.
Once inside the Metronome Style Shop in Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, players can interact with the NPC character behind the counter. Players will know they have found the right place as the shop has many clothing options on display, and the NPC behind the counter has brown hair and is wearing an orange shirt. Interacting with the NPC behind the counter will allow players to purchase a new outfit or change their current attire into an outfit purchased previously. Outfits in Pokémon BDSP range in price from 8,500 Pokémon dollars for the Pikachu Style to 120,000 Pokémon dollars for the Leather Jacket Style. Additionally, players will have the option to view an outfit on their character before purchasing it.
Pokémon BDSP: Metronome Style Shop's Clothing & Hairstyles Options
Outfits in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl are only available as an entire set. Accordingly, when a player purchases a new look, it comes equipped with an entire top, bottom, and shoe set, including any accessories and hairstyles. Accessories can range from hats and scarves to stockings or bags. The available clothing and hairstyles in the Metronome Style Shop differ depending on if the player selected to play as a male or female character. Hairstyles for female players feature long hair occasionally in pigtails or a braided updo. Male players have hairstyle options ranging from short tousled hair to a beanie. Players will not have the option to mix and match clothing items, accessories, or hairstyles from the available sets.
Styles draw from a variety of inspiration, including Pokémon like Eevee and Gengar. Other outfits are seasonal, so players can dress according to the region they search for Pokémon. There are both formal and casual clothing options and punk-inspired looks with bright colors and leather jackets. Players who feel inspired by dressing up their characters can also do so in real life with Original Stitch clothing featuring Pokémon.
The Platinum Style is a bonus outfit that is not available for purchase at the Metronome Style Shop. This winter outfit is only available to players who purchased either Pokémon Brilliant Diamond or Pokémon Shining Pearl before February 22, 2022. Before that date, players can visit the TV Station in Jubilife City and unlock the Platinum Style outfit through the Mystery Gift.
