The multiple new shiny characters introduced in Pokémon Sword and Shield, as well as copied over from older games, certainly made hunting them an exciting but challenging task. Nevertheless, that challenge undoubtedly makes getting hold of them all the more enjoyable and rewarding.

Now it's worth noting that the shiny Pokémon introduced aren't exactly the most powerful in the game, but they certainly change the adorable or badass Pokémon fans know and love in a more interesting and colorful way, which is arguably the best thing to do when creating a brand new shiny Pokémon.

Grookey

A shiny Grookey

It would be a travesty if the starters didn't have a shiny counterpart. It would also be a travesty if these shiny weren't as cute as their non-shinies! Luckily this isn't the case with the adorable little Grookey.

Grookey has quickly become a fan favorite, with many players finding themselves desperate to get hold of the shiny version, which is easy to understand. Especially since it makes Grookey a beautiful golden color that looks as rare as it is, and especially since the new shiny lock came in, stopping starter shinies from appearing at the beginning, making them even more of a challenge.

Scorbunny

A shiny Scorbunny surrounded by light

While starter shinies are extremely tough to get hold of (aside from using a Ditto or attempting to breed them), they are certainly worth it. The challenge itself means the player can show off their Pokémon with pride and show off their Pokémon hunting skills.

Scorbunny is no exception. Shiny Scorbunny is a little more subtle than other Sword and Shield shinies, with only its ears and feet changing to a similar gold seen on Grookey, but it's enough to recognize the great achievement.

Sobble

A shiny sobble surrounded by stars

Sobble is unlike the rest of the starter Pokémon due to its preference to not turn gold. However, it's still really difficult to find. Players shouldn't worry about this Pokémon being too subtle in its changes since the whole color of Sobble changes from a light blue to a more gray/purple color that keeps the softness but shows off the differences.

Sobble is another fan favorite that many players end up getting rather frustrated over after hunting for hours on end to find the shiny. Nevertheless, is one of the best and hardest challenges in the game and will certainly make any Pokémon hunter beam with pride when they find one.

Orbeetle

Shiny Orbeetle

The final evolution of Blipbug is a little less cute and more deadly. This makes it a pretty useful companion in a battle, allowing the player to both win and show off their rare shiny!

Orbeetle's shiny form is not as subtle as the likes of Scorbunny, but also not gold like the well-known starters. This rather freaky-looking Pokémon boasts a lovely purple shell as opposed to its previous red, making it pretty obvious that this is shiny. Ultimately, Orbeetle can pull its own in battle and still looks really cool! It's a win-win.

Corviknight

Corviknight is easily one of the coolest and most badass-looking Pokémon introduced in Pokémon Sword and Shield. Its raven-like body and steel armor are what make it amazing in battles and awesome to show off.

But what's even better is showing off its shiny version. While it doesn't really get any points for creativity, the makers have certainly made this Pokémon look 10x more powerful and mysterious. Shiny Corviknight is simply a few shades darker than its previous look on its tufts of hair. While not a complete alteration, many fans think this is a major upgrade and look far and wide for this particular shiny.

Thievul

Shiny Thievul outside a camp

Thievul is a fox-like Dark-type Pokémon that certainly gets darker when the player catches a shiny. Going from the beautiful fox-like red and black body, Theivul changes into a gray and purple, making it a lot darker and more menacing. This doesn't stop the Pokémon from being cute and badass at the same time, but is certainly so obvious that many players love to boast about it.

Ultimately, Thievul would make a wonderful companion in battle, shiny or not, but is particularly sought after due to its cool and clear changes.

Drednaw

Drednaw and its preevolution

Drednaw is very, very similar to Torterra in its design and shape, but that only makes it look just as awesome! This Pokémon is powerful, interesting, and makes for a pretty cool shiny, even if it is a little more subtle than the others.

Nevertheless, Drednaw is a wonderful companion that is sought after by many fans, probably because of their love for Torterra. But with a nice dark green body and darker shell, the shiny version definitely looks more turtle-like.

Boltund

A siny boltund

Similar to Scorbunny or Drednaw, Boltund doesn't exactly boast an obvious change when it's shiny. The golden look the normal Boltund has that many players love so much doesn't change, but the legs and other parts of the body go from a plain gray to a beautiful dark purple, much like Corviknight.

This is a little frustratingly subtle but is still just enough to be recognizable. Fans and players alike should be careful when hunting for a shiny Boltund, they may just miss it due to how subtle the changes actually are.

Mr. Rime

Mr. Rime is a dual-type Ice/Psychic Pokémon that is completely new to Pokémon Sword and Shield and brings a new life to the often frustrating Mr. Mime. It's another subtle shiny Pokémon but remains a fan favorite and a pretty interesting companion to have, even if it's likely never used.

It only really changes a bit of color, going from blue arms and pants to a gray, arguably a bit of a boring alteration. Nevertheless, this Pokémon is challenging to get and is perfect for any completionist to try their luck with.

Grimmsnarl

Shiny Grimmsnarl is arguably one of the best Pokémon in the game. It's powerful, cool to look at, and extremely different from its non-shiny counterpart.

Firstly, Grimmsnarl is an extremely useful Pokémon to have in a party no matter what, but when shiny, it goes from green and purple into a mystical yeti style! It's extremely obvious and makes for a brilliant boast. Ultimately, this is one of the best and coolest shiny Pokémon to get hold of. But it's by no means the hardest.
