Different Pokémon require different items and methods to evolve in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, and several Pokémon will only evolve once trainers find a Dusk Stone. While BDSP includes the Dusk Stone locations that were in the original games, more methods can be used to acquire Dusk Stones in the remakes that weren't featured in the originals. For example, access to the Grand Underground in Pokémon BDSP allows players to find an additional Dusk Stone.

The Dusk Stone was one of three evolutionary stones that were introduced in the original Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, alongside the Shiny and Dawn Stones. Each stone is tied to an evolution that was unavailable to Pokémon introduced in generations two and three, such as Snorunt, Togetic, and Murkrow. Thanks to a few changes, players are able to obtain the Dusk Stone, and others, in Pokémon BDSP before beginning the endgame content.

Dusk Stones are used to evolve two exclusive Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Pokémon. In Brilliant Diamond, players can use the Dusk Stone to evolve Murkrow into Honchkrow. In Shining Pearl, they can use the Dusk Stone to evolve Misdreavus into Mismagius. Honchkrow is a Dark- and Flying-type Pokémon and is the best physical Flying-type attacker available before players receive the National Dex. Mismagius is a pure Ghost-type Pokémon and benefits from only being weak to Dark-types and other Ghost-types. Additionally, Mismagius has immunities to all Fighting- and Normal-type attacks.

Where To Find The Dusk Stone In Pokémon BDSP

Dusk Stones can be used to evolve Pokémon in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

One of the first Dusk Stones in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl can be found by navigating the Grand Underground from the beach on Route 213, east of Pastoria City. Players can find a Dusk Stone inside a Bogsunk Cave featured as a large Pokémon Hideaway.

Additionally, a Pokémon with the Pickup ability can randomly find a Dusk Stone at any point throughout Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Both games have Aipom, Munchlax, and Pachirisu with the Pickup ability, and, one of the Shining Pearl exclusives, Teddiursa, has the Pickup ability as well. Pachirisu can be caught as soon as Valley Windworks is accessible, and Aipom can be found from honey trees. Aipom can also be found in the Grand Underground after acquiring the Defog HM, as can Munchlax.

The two Dusk Stones that return from the original Diamond and Pearl are still located in the Team Galactic Warehouse and in Victory Road. The Victory Road Dusk Stone can only be found after players defeat the Elite Four and obtain the National Dex. They can return to the entrance of the Elite Four and head to the Victory Road exit. They should travel through Victory Road until they reach an entrance that was previously blocked by an NPC. Players can use that entrance, battle the trainers heading north in the cave, and use Strength to move the boulders blocking the pathway to reach the Dusk Stone in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

Getting the warehouse Dusk Stone in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl is somewhat easier. To find it, players must defeat Commander Jupiter at Lake Acuity. She'll drop the warehouse key that unlocks the Team Galactic building in Veilstone City. This is a natural part of the story, so players are unable to reach the warehouse prior to this event, but it's also hard to miss.
