Trainers can claim a Christmas-themed Mystery Gift in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl for a limited time. The Mystery Gift function has been in the Pokémon series since its debut back in 1996. With this feature, the Pokémon Company is able to distribute gifts over the internet or by using local communication. This is how players can get special items or event-exclusive legendary Pokémon. To kick off the holiday season, trainers can claim a new Mystery Gift code that will reward them with five new Shiny Statues.

First, players will need to unlock the Mystery Gift function. Unlike the other mainline entries in the series that have the Mystery Gift available from the beginning, trainers will need to wait until they have access to their first Gym Badge to get it. Next, return to Jubilife City and enter the TV Station. Speak with the man on the second floor and answer his questions. He will eventually reward the trainer with the ability to use Mystery Gifts.

Now that Mystery Gifts are active; there is a new code for players to claim. Trainers can find the Mystery Gift menu within their pause screen once they unlock it. Select 'get with code/password' and enter "MERRYCHR1STMAS." This code will provide the player with Shiny Statues of Pachirisu, Lucario, Rhyperior, Electivire, and Glaceon. These can be used once the trainer unlocks access to the Grand Underground. Here, these statues can be used to directly affect the type of Pokémon that spawn within the dens.

Using Shiny Statues in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

Pokemon BDSP Secret Base Design

There will be several different types of elemental rooms in the Grand Underground, each with its own kinds of Pokémon that spawn. The spawn rate for each Pokémon is different, but as players unlock more of the Sinnoh region, rarer Pokémon will begin to spawn. It's especially important once trainers get the National Dex as it will drastically alter which Pokémon appear in the Grand Underground.

To use these Shiny Statues, trainers will need to create a Secret Base. Using the Driller Tool item, trainers can create a little room within any solid hole in the wall. Here, players will be able to decorate their Secret Bases with different types of statues. Placing these statues will affect the dens directly. For example, setting the Shiny Lucario statue will cause more Fighting and Steel-type Pokémon to appear since Lucario is this typing. These statues usually are retrieved through mining within the walls of the Grand Underground; however, players can get access to some statues without all the hard work. The code expires on December 25th, so players should claim these free items before it's too late.
