Warning: The following article includes spoilers for the Chainsaw Man manga and anime.

With Tatsuki Fujimoto finishing his One-Shot manga Goodbye, Eri on April 10th, he finally has the time to begin serialization for the highly anticipated Chainsaw Man Part 2: "Back To School" arc.

Since the conclusion of Part 1, which shockingly revealed a sequel to the Chainsaw Man manga, the internet has been abuzz with theories on what the next installment will have in store for the protagonist, Denji. These are some of the plot points that were introduced in Part 1 that will hopefully be addressed and expanded upon in Part 2 of Chainsaw Man.

Kobeni's Fate

After the tumultuous city-wide final battle which left almost the entirety of Makima Squad annihilated and dead, Kobeni chose to retire from public safety to work in a far less dangerous job. However, after her run-in with Chainsaw Man, Kobeni is once again out of a job and traumatized from the experience.

Kobeni had a rare bonding moment with Denji and seemed to have an epiphany as to what she wanted to do when she was last seen. Whether she attempts to subdue devils, go back home to her family, or team up with Denji one of the last people in the city she knows, her fate will be immensely entertaining as it unravels.

Roll Call

With the announcement of Part 2 of Chainsaw Man being known as the "Back to School" arc, it seems that Denji will finally be able to cross off another task on his bucket list by attending school for the first time.

As Denji has never been to school and the narrative genius of Tatsuki Fujimoto often completely derails reader theories, the meaning of his wording is up for speculation. Will someone be joining Denji during his school days? Will he be going to a normal school or one for devil hunters? Or will he once again be "schooled" on his lack of knowledge of Devils? Only Tatsuki knows for now.

A Devil's Death

It is explained in Chainsaw Man that all devils are born from the amount of fear that humans have towards what they represent. And as no fear ever truly disappears, Devils are in effect immortal, though they can experience a pseudo-death. Any Devil who is killed on Earth returns to Hell, and any Devil killed in Hell returns to Earth through a form of reincarnation.

While devils can infinitely be revived, it is speculated that when a Devil reincarnates they will lose their memories of their previous incarnation. Yet devils such as Beam, who is the Shark Devil, seem to remember their time in Hell as he knows instinctually he is the subordinate of the Chainsaw Devil. The possibility of foes once thought gone coming back to seek revenge could become a major plot element in part 2.

Primal Fear Devils

Primal Fear Devils are devils who represent concepts that humanity has feared since its conception and are feared as some of the strongest devils to ever exist. When the Makima Squad was forcibly transported to hell by the Hell Devil, they had the misfortune to be targeted by the Darkness Devil, who completely decimated the majority of their squad in mere moments.

The overwhelming power of the Darkness Devil showcased that regardless of how strong the characters have become, far more treacherous beings still exist. And with Denji escaping the clutches of the Darkness Devil, the rest of the Primal Fear Devils may also make an appearance. And if they do, mass destruction and loss of life are sure to follow.

Devil Concept Erasures

When Makima reveals her grand plan to destroy all devils and create a "Utopia," she also reveals her plan to accomplish this by having Denji become Chainsaw Man and consume the Devils erasing all memory and knowledge of them from humans. Unlike how most devils, when dying, can revive in either heaven or hell, those eaten by Chainsaw Man are implied to be destroyed permanently.

While Denji has never himself consciously become Chainsaw Man and utilized his powers, Denji will be going to school and potentially taught how to harness his latent powers. If Denji is properly trained, fans may see Denji and whatever comrades he makes begin a hunt for certain out-of-control devils and attempt to erase them permanently.

Pochita

The best and first friend Denji ever has, Pochita is the embodiment of the Chainsaw Devil and sacrifices himself to bond with Denji's heart, bringing him back to life and giving Denji a second chance. As he is bonded with Denji, he experiences everything Denji does and seemingly can access all of Denji's memories.

When Pochita makes his first appearance, he is heavily hurt and almost cut in half, but he is healed and treated by Denji. How Pochita received such injuries raises questions, as he is, in actuality, an extremely powerful devil. It's possible the Chainsaw Devil was only recently reincarnated after being killed in hell, but it is unclear what Devil could cause such damage to Chainsaw Man and turn him into such a small-sized devil.

Devil Hunter Association

The Devil Hunter Association in Chainsaw Man.

The Devil Hunter Association is the government entity that contracts and dispatches Devil Hunters to deal with and kill Devils that threaten Japan. By utilizing a "buddy" system, the agency perpetually teams up the rookie and veteran Devil Hunters to always have multiple devil hunters training in an attempt to kill as many devils as possible while losing the fewest amount of devil hunters.

With Makima revealing her role as the secret manipulator of the association, as well as dozens of hunters being killed in the ensuing battle with Chainsaw Man, the fate of the association is left in question. While at the end of the series it seems there are devil hunters around, the effectiveness of their ability to control devils is uncertain.

Fate Of The Control Devil

At the end of the series, Chainsaw Man is revealed to be able to completely erase the knowledge and existence of any devils that he consumes. Makima the Control Devil also revealed her plan to manipulate Chainsaw Man to erase essentially all devils and fear from humans to create a "utopia" that she will have full control over.

With Makima's insurmountable power, the only way the association can be sure she is properly destroyed is by having Denji slowly consume her piece by piece. However, with the introduction of Nayuta, the reincarnation of Makima, the Control Devils' fate is thrown into question. Why the Control Devil was not reincarnated in hell, completely erased, and whether the control devil has any of her previous knowledge will most definitely become a major plot point in the coming sequel.

Nayuta

Nayuta meow-ing in Chainsaw Man.

Nayuta is the reincarnation of Makima and the newest incarnation of the Control Devil. At the conclusion of Chainsaw Man Part 1, Nayuta is placed into the care of Denji by Captain Kishibe to keep her out of the government's hands, as well as potentially have Denji lead her down a not completely destructive path by becoming a surrogate family member.

While Nayuta shouldn't have Makima's old memories, her sudden appearance after the death of Makima is both confusing and concerning. She also calls Denji "Doggy" at first glance, which with Denji having previously agreed to become Makima's dog, alludes to the fact she may have some knowledge of her past. Nayuta no doubt will be a major player in part 2 because, with Denji as her caretaker, she will be constantly be tagging along with him.

Search For Power

After Denji was horrendously injured and beaten in his battle with Makima, Power used the last remaining power she had to heal Denji and save him from the brink of death. Power ultimately sacrifices herself to give Denji another shot at defeating Makima and disappears as she is reincarnated somewhere in hell.

Before her death, Power tasks Denji to travel to Hell to remind her of their friendship and shared memories, as well as to bring her back to Earth with him. Though even if Denji miraculously finds her, he still needs to be able to convince her of their past, as upon reincarnation, Power will most likely have lost all of her memories.
