Realism isn't the name of the game on teen drama Pretty Little LiarsAfter all, the main characters come close to death in many instances, and they're constantly being chased by random people wearing cloaks and disguises. It's hard to believe that this would actually happen, but suspending disbelief is the first step to enjoying this juicy series. Besides the mysteries, this popular show also deals with family strife, first love, and the conflict of long-term friendships.

When it comes to the storylines on PLL, all seven seasons have a mix of logical plots and some that don't add up, even within the context of Rosewood, a small town that gives people the creeps.

Most Realistic: Spencer Is Scared Of Failure And Steals Her Sister's Essay

Spencer looks concerned in PLL

Spencer Hastings is terrified of failure, particularly in the first season of the show.

When she steals her sister's essay so she can succeed, it makes a lot of sense, making this one of the most realistic storylines. Of course, the essay ends up in a contest in the first season episode "Can You Hear Me Now?" and that becomes a huge issue. It's logical that Spencer would do everything within her power to secure her chances of getting into a good college as that's one of her major goals.

Least Realistic: Ali Is Almost Buried Alive And Then Runs Away

It doesn't make much sense that Alison DiLaurentis is almost buried alive, as this is a totally over-the-top storyline.

To make things even more unrealistic, Ali's own mother is the one who tries to do this, as she thinks that she's burying Bethany Young and she wants to help Charlotte. But wouldn't Ali's mom know her own daughter? There are too many questions about this that can't be cleared up so easily. It's also weird that Ali would run away, as she's a young girl and it seems like she could go to her parents, other family members, or even the police about what's been going on.

Most Realistic: Hanna Can't Pay For College And Tries To Dance

Hanna and Emily dancing at school on Pretty Little Liars

Hanna Marin has always been stubborn and passionate, and even when she's facing a lot of turmoil in her life, she can be super brave.

When she can't pay for college and wants to be in a beauty pageant, Hanna gets Emily to help out. This is a realistic storyline, as Hanna is trying her best to figure something out for her future, and it's even more realistic when she messes up during the try-out and can't dance as well as Emily. No matter how hard someone tries, not everything works out all the time.

Least Realistic: The Girls Are Stalked By A Mysterious Figure And Can't Go To The Police

"A" is always texting the liars scary things, but is this realistic?

It's hard to believe that in real life, the girls really would be stalked by a mysterious person who had it out for them. Can they really not go to the police? Because they're still in high school, it seems likely that they could explain themselves. While "A" does know their deepest and darkest secrets, some of these can be explained. It seems like the liars would agree to own up to the mistakes that they have made and deal with the consequences instead of playing this dangerous game and opening themselves up to more hurt and even potential death. Also, do any of the parents ever notice how scary things are? A lot of this doesn't add up.

Most Realistic: Aria Ignores The Consequences And Dates A Much Older Guy

Ezra Fitz dates Aria Montgomery when she's underage. Aria ignores the fact that there's this big age difference and figures that she can take a chance and things will work out.

This is fairly realistic, as when people fall in love, they don't want to think about the potential ramifications. Aria has a bit of a rebellious spirit and this is one example of how she does what she wants.

Least Realistic: The Girls Get Kidnapped And Put In The Dollhouse

At the end of season 5, the liars are kidnapped and brought to the dollhouse. Each room looks like their own bedroom in their family homes and it's incredibly creepy.

This is unrealistic, though, as the girls had been arrested and they're in a van on the way to jail when this happens. Wouldn't there be greater security? It seems odd that no one was watching them carefully enough, as this could have most likely been prevented.

Most Realistic: Aria Writes Ezra's Novel For Him

Aria has quite the journey and much of her story involves how much she loves Ezra. In the sixth season, she decides to write Ezra's novel for him. This causes a bit of tension between them, but Ezra does understand why she did it, and they end up writing the book together.

This seems like a realistic storyline, as Aria often does the wrong thing but has great intentions. She just wants to help Ezra and never stops caring for him.

Least Realistic: "A" Steals Emily's Eggs And Gets Ali Pregnant

Emily and Aria holding their twin babies on Pretty Little Liars

While it's sweet to see Emily and Ali together in the series finale, the way that Ali gets pregnant is completely unrealistic.

It's strange enough that Emily has decided to donate her eggs, and it's weirder still that "A" steals those eggs and impregnates Ali. This is just so disturbing and dark, and it's hard to believe that this is something that would actually happen. It's one of the PLL storylines that doesn't add up completely.

Most Realistic: Mona Moves To France And Continues Toying With Alex And Mary Drake

Mona on Pretty Little Liars

After years of behaving badly, it makes perfect sense that Mona Vanderwaal moves to France with some ulterior motives in mind.

In the series finale, fans learn that Mona has kidnapped Alex and Mary Drake, and she's still toying with them. While this might seem outlandish, it works for Mona, as she's always been a little bit evil. She can't really live a normal life after everything that she has seen and done, and this seems like a realistic and logical conclusion for this character.

Least Realistic: Spencer Never Thought She Had A Twin And It Was Hidden From Her

Spencer and Alex Drake on Pretty Little Liars

It seems like in almost every episode, Spencer is dealing with a new tragedy, and she learns that she has an evil twin.

The Alex Drake reveal is incredibly unrealistic, and that's one reason why not everyone loves the series finale. Would this really have been hidden from Spencer? Wouldn't she find out at some point, or overhear her parents talking about it? There are some holes in this storyline, and it just doesn't seem like it could happen.
