Following September's large PlayStation Showcase event, Sony is going back to its smaller-scale presentations with a new State of Play event on October 27. The PlayStation 5 is closing in on its one-year anniversary in November, and Sony looks to be capitalizing on that by giving players a closer look at already announced titles and some new reveals during this newest State of Play. The State of Play won't be skipping out on PS4 owners, though, as some of the games shown will be releasing on the last generation console as well.

Sony usually utilizes its State of Play events to show off upcoming titles (both AAA and indie games) to get fans excited. The last State of Play event took place in July, giving fans a new trailer for Deathloop, a release date announcement for Death's Stranding Director's Cut, and providing deeper looks at other smaller games like Sifu and JETT: The Far Shore. September's extended PlayStation Showcase was packed full of content, giving players their first looks at Marvel's Spider-Man 2, God of War Ragnarok, and Marvel's The Wolverine - and showing new trailers for Forspoken, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, and Ghostwire: Tokyo.

Leading into the normally frantic Fall release season for video games, PlayStation has announced a new State of Play event that will take place on Wednesday, October 27. The event is set to start at 2 pm PT/ 5 pm CT / 11 pm CET. A PlayStation blog post states that the newest State of Play will last around 20 minutes, with the focus centered on "upcoming third-party releases headed to PS5 and PS4."

PlayStation State Of Play October 2021 - How To Watch

PlayStation October State of Play

In line with other PlayStation announcements and presentations, the State of Play event will be available to watch live on PlayStation's official Twitch and YouTube channels. For those who won't be able to watch the event when it takes place, it will most likely be available to view on both Twitch and YouTube once it has concluded. Some outlets will probably be streaming the State of Play on their own respective channels, and typically streamers will be watching the event and commentating on all of the different content shown throughout the presentation, too. For people who simply want to watch the official PlayStation State of Play stream, here is that video:

In terms of what games fans can expect to see, the PlayStation blog post didn't give any specifics outside of the fact that it will include "new looks at previously announced games, plus a few reveals from our partners around the world." There's a host of third-party games that could feature in the presentation, including the highly-anticipated Final Fantasy 16 that hasn't been seen since September 2020. Rumors circulated back in July that Square Enix would be releasing a trailer for the game during that month's State of Play event, but this rumor didn't come to fruition and has left the door open for a new Final Fantasy 16 trailer to make an appearance on Wednesday.

The Grand Theft Auto Trilogy: Definitive Edition is coming to PlayStation consoles on November 11, so players could get an extra special look from Rockstar at the collection during the State of Play event. PlayStation's partnership with Call of Duty: Vanguard may result in new information about exclusive content coming to PlayStation owners as well. Games like Little Devils Inside and Among Us also have the potential to show up, and the promise of new reveals from different Sony partners should make this a PlayStation State of Play for fans to be excited about.
