A recent fan poll reveals that PlayStation's Spider-Man is the second favorite interpretation of the character for a number of fans. Insomniac's version of Spider-Man beat out actors like Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield, comic book interpretations, and even the beloved Miles Morales. It's clearly a testament to Insomniac's work on the iconic Marvel hero and should inspire confidence in how the studio will handle other heroes like Wolverine.

Earlier this month, fans realized that a Marvel's Spider-Man move is in No Way Home. The move happens toward the middle of the movie during an epic fight and Tom Holland noted that the crew specifically pulled that action beat from the game. This can be taken as an indication that Insomniac is handling the webhead with great care and is even inspiring other iterations of the decades-old character. Whether or not the games will start to inspire story beats in other films or comics remains to be seen, but fans are taking a clear liking to this version of the character.

In an IGN poll, it was revealed that Insomniac's take on Spider-Man is one of the most beloved takes on the character. Insomniac's version of Peter Parker comes in just below Tobey Maguire's version and ahead of Tom Holland, Into the Spider-Verse's Miles Morales, and Andrew Garfield. Meanwhile, Insomniac's take on Miles Morales comes in last place, but the public opinion could change on that with the upcoming sequel. Insomniac's version of Peter Parker is the only video game version of the character to appear in the poll, which shows just how long it took for the medium to compete with the comics and films.

Peter in Marvel's Spider-Man

It's unclear how long Insomniac plans to continue telling Peter Parker stories. It's possible the developer will kill him off in a future title and have Miles Morales be the sole Spider-Man, but the developer seems to have a general vision for its Spider-Man universe. The next game isn't meant to release until 2023, but fans are still entertaining themselves with Marvel's Spider-Man.

Just like the films, players keep returning to the two games that Insomniac has released and experiencing the fantastic stories within them. With Venom and Kraven set as the antagonists of Marvel's Spider-Man 2, it seems like Insomniac is setting up yet another personal and emotional story for Peter Parker, especially given which character has been teased as having access to the symbiote. It'll likely be a while before the developer offers more details on the sequel, but it should be another exciting Spider-Man adventure.
