PlayStation Plus is receiving a major update in June, as it's moving to a tiered system, and PlayStation Plus Premium is the most expensive tier, adding PS1, PS2, and PSP games to its library. There are some first-party PlayStation games that are guaranteed to appear on the service, but Sony needs the help of third-party developers if it wants to make PlayStation Plus Premium a success, and there are certain games that will make the service more attractive to both the mainstream audience and longtime PlayStation fans.
PlayStation Plus Essential is the same as the version of PlayStation Plus that exists now, including the price point. PlayStation Plus Extra combines PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now, adding a library of downloadable PS4 games and streamable PS3 games. PlayStation Plus Premium is the top tier and it will add downloadable and streamable versions of PS1, PS2, and PSP games. The regions without access to cloud streaming will have access to a different top tier, named PlayStation Plus Deluxe, which won't have the streaming options or PS3 games, but will be cheaper than PlayStation Plus Premium.
Sony has revealed a few of PlayStation Plus Extra's launch games, which will include Death Stranding, God of War, Marvel's Spider-Man, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Mortal Kombat 11, and Returnal. Sony has yet to reveal which retro games will be coming to PlayStation Plus Premium, except that there will be 340 titles added to the service. There are plenty of popular PS1 and PS2 games that are available now on PS4 and PS5, as they have been remastered with HD visuals, so it's unlikely that these games will appear on PlayStation Plus Premium, save for the first-party Sony titles. Sony really needs to get the third-party developers on board for the PlayStation Plus Premium service, as they provided some of the best games for the older PlayStation consoles, and the ability to play them on modern systems would be a huge draw to the service, especially if they cannot be readily played through legal means.

A lot of Square Enix's classic games are unlikely to appear on this list, due to being available in superior forms on modern platforms, which include FF7-9 , Saga Frontier, and Chrono Cross. The Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon games also received high-quality remakes, while Castlevania: Symphony of the Night can be purchased as part of the Castlevania Requiem collection.

Like the PS1, some of the biggest PS2 games are already available in remastered form on modern platforms, including Devil May Cry, FF10, FF12, the Kingdom Hearts games, and the Grand Theft Auto 3D trilogy. One possible beneficiary of the new version of PlayStation Plus is Atlus fans, as the company released lots of classic RPGs on the PS2 that have yet to receive new versions, which could all be brought to PlayStation Plus Premium.

The PSP titles might be the most exciting thing about PlayStation Plus Premium. Most of the best third-party PS1 and PS2 games have received remasters on modern systems, but this isn't the case with the PSP. There are tons of amazing PSP games that are still locked to that system and their addition to PlayStation Plus will be worth the price of admission, with some of the best Final Fantasy and Metal Gear games being part of its library. Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions and Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together would both be incredible additions to PlayStation Plus Premium, but the Nvidia GeForce Now leak suggested that those games are set to receive modern remasters, which would likely prevent their inclusion on PlayStation Plus Premium.
