Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO and President Jim Ryan has confirmed that PlayStation's Nixxes Software acquisition will allow the publisher to release more games on PC. On July 1, only days after its purchase of Returnal developer Housemarque, PlayStation welcomed Nixxes into the first-party family.

Founded in 1999, the Netherlands-based Nixxes Software is best known as a PC port house. Recent years have seen the group bring several Square Enix-published titles to PC, including the likes of Hitman: Absolution, the Tomb Raider reboots, and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Nixxes is no stranger to working intimately with PlayStation hardware, though,  having ported multiple Legacy of Kain projects from PlayStation to other platforms. But Nixxes most recent projects specifically raised eyebrows following the PlayStation buyout, given the latter's ongoing efforts in gaining a foothold in the PC space. Said efforts began with a Horizon: Zero Dawn port, then led to Days Gone's PC release. The newest member of PlayStation Studios will help ensure other exclusive experiences find their way to a wider audience.

Speaking with Japanese publication Famitsu (via Wccftech), PlayStation CEO and President Jim Ryan confirmed internet chatter about Sony's intentions concerning the Nixxes Software purchase. Ryan most notably expressed enthusiasm about working with Nixxes to port additional PlayStation-exclusive titles to PC. According to Wccftech, the executive also made note of his satisfaction with PlayStation's PC ports, thus far, though these efforts remain in their infancy. Ryan offered no hints as to which adventure will migrate next.

That Nixxes will play an instrumental role in PlayStation's future PC-related endeavors comes as no surprise. Jim Ryan previously stated that more PS4 exclusives would make the jump; plus, one of Sony's finance presentations from earlier in the year indicated Uncharted 4: A Thief's End may be next in line for the PC port treatment. An official confirmation from the publisher has yet to emerge, however.

Multiple hit PS4 games from the Sony first-party group are rumored to shed their exclusivity. God of War (2018) counts as one such title, though nothing concrete has corroborated claim. The recent removal of the "Only On PlayStation" tag from Ghost of Tsushima's PS4 box art led to similar PC port rumblings. Again, rumor and speculation of this nature remains unfounded in terms of official word from the publisher.
