Hermen Hulst, the head of PlayStation Studios, recently confirmed that certain PlayStation-exclusive games will continue to release on PC years after their console release. Hulst, previously Guerrilla Games' managing director and co-founder, assumed control of PlayStation Studios back in 2019. PlayStation Studios is a group of Sony-owned video game studios that includes popular developers such as Naughty Dog, Insomniac Games, and Sucker Punch Productions.

Sony has released a number of highly successful PlayStation-exclusive titles in recent years, giving the brand a distinct advantage against competitors Microsoft and Nintendo. Titles such as Horizon Zero DawnGod of WarSpider-Man, and The Last of Us Part II have attracted gamers who are interested in single-player and narrative-driven games. The month of June is set to contain even more exciting releases for PlayStation 5 owners, as two exciting exclusive titles are set to release. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is the long-awaited next chapter in Insomniac's platformer shooter series, while Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Intergrade will enhance the well-received remake from 2020 with current-generation graphics and a brand-new piece of content.

In a recent PlayStation Blog update, Hermen Hulst revealed that certain PlayStation-exclusive titles will continue releasing on PC. However, these PC releases will only occur years after a game's initial launch, meaning that PlayStation consoles are still the only way to enjoy these titles upon release. In the interview Hulst explains that the previous release of PlayStation-exclusive titles on PC, including titles such as Horizon Zero Dawn, Death Stranding, and Days Gone, has been very successful for Sony. Releasing these games on PC, even years after their initial release, allowed an entirely new audience to experience these amazing single-player adventures.

While Hermen Hulst is committed to continued releases on PC, the lineup of PlayStation-exclusive games continues to grow. Sony recently announced over a dozen new PS4 and PS5 games which are being developed as a part of the PlayStation Talents initiative. This educational initiate, created by Sony's Spanish branch, gives local creators the opportunity to develop and release their very own games. Many of these titles are extremely unique and creative, such as Inner Ashes which puts players in the shoes of a man with Alzheimer's or the Metroidvania title Aeterna Noctis. Hermen Hulst also revealed, during his interview with PlayStation Blog, that future PlayStation-exclusive releases such as Gran Turismo 7 and the next God of War title will be coming to the PS4 alongside the PS5.

In recent years PlayStation has placed a strong emphasis on narratively-driven single-player games, which is in sharp contrast to many studios' previous focus on multiplayer titles. This strategy seems to have paid off, as titles such as God of War and The Last of Us Part II were wildly successful both critically and commercially. Hulst's assurance that certain exclusive titles will eventually reach PC ensures that these games reach a wide audience, while the fact that they will always launch on consoles still increases the value of purchasing a PlayStation console.
