An extremely talented 3D artist and PlayStation fan has shown their love for the classic console by turning it into a photorealistic hot tub. Releasing back in 1994, Sony's original gaming system kickstarted a beloved brand which has slowly evolved into the current-generation PlayStation 5 system. While the release of a Classic Edition of the original PlayStation has apparently been discussed by Sony, currently the iconic PSX remains a thing of the past.

Between its launch in 1994 and the release of its successor in 2000, the original PlayStation console went through its own design evolution. The original version of the system is both very basic and highly memorable, being a simple square with a round disc insert on top. This combination of square and circular shapes would be quite irregular for a modern console, but its simplicity has led to great nostalgia for Sony's first hardware design. In 2000 the PSX was redesigned and re-released as the PS One, with the new design smoothing out the first edition's sharp edges. The PlayStation's original controller also lacked joysticks, with new analog models eventually releasing and vastly improving the original design. Many gamers still pay tribute to the original PlayStation's controllers, with one fan redesigning the PlayStation 5's DualSense controller with a PS1-themed grey paint job.

A talented 3D artist named Kidd Gorgeous recently revealed a 3D art piece that turns a class PlayStation into a stylish hot tub. Though it sadly does not exist in real life, the gorgeous build would let guests lounge inside the system's disc tray like a very relaxed copy of Crash Bandicoot. The massive PSX recreation is accurate down to every detail, with the ridges on the side of the console and the buttons all in the right spot. Lights would illuminate those hanging out inside the PlayStation's tray, with Kidd Gorgeous' photorealistic 3D art no doubt making viewers wish that the real thing existed.

While many gamers are nostalgic for the original PlayStation's physical design, many others love to reminisce about the PSX's library. The quaint titles released in the late 1990s came complete with blocky graphics and unpolished mechanics, but it was an exciting time of experimentation for the industry. Many fan projects, such as the upcoming PSX demake of Bloodborne, take beloved modern games and recreates them in this comforting style of the past. The Bloodborne remake specifically seeks to rebuild FromSoftware's gothic role-playing game from the ground up, using PSX-style graphics while still retaining the original PlayStation 4 game's fast-paced combat.

While it sadly exists only in the digital world of 3D art, Kidd Gorgeous' Tubstation design is a wonderful love letter to Sony's first console. The system's design actually works quite nicely as a hot tub, with a large rectangular base and a circle space on top of it. The addition of lights could easily make the build a functional space to hang out, and Gorgeous' photorealistic render is sure to make any viewer long for the real thing.
