Every month, developer EA Sports announces a Player of the Month in FIFA 23 that players have voted on throughout the community, eventually revolving that athlete around the next Squad Building Challenge. Those who complete these challenges have access to FIFA 23's best overall players through Ultimate Packs, along with a boosted card for the athlete named PotM. Constructing a team of superstar soccer professionals remains an ever-evolving task in FIFA 23 as players use these boosts in PotM to adjust their teams with possible new additions depending on who stands in the spotlight.

Six nominees typically comprise the crop of athletes considered for Player of the Month in FIFA 23. Not to be confused with the Team of the Week upgraded player cards that are more frequent, PotM cards connected to the awarded athlete boost their overall Rating, among other specific statistics. For example, showcasing whether an athlete could be one of the fastest players in FIFA 23 Ultimate Team, or an incredibly well-balanced striker, ratings identify the strengths of each player, which are universally bolstered if chosen as PotM.

Squad Building Challenges arise directly intertwined with the athlete chosen to represent the PotM in various leagues. Leaning into the calculated team-building strategies FIFA games have emphasized in the past, Ultimate Team squads with higher ratings are more likely to pass the requirements tied to the SBC for every month. As of October 2022, the most rewarding SBC arises from the La Liga organization, centered around PotM Federico Valverde. Already an excellent defender in FIFA 23, Valverde's PotM card sees a +2 boost in his overall Rating, as well as several increases in other scores.

Players must submit three squads to complete the SBC associated with Federico Valverde for October 2022. The overarching requirements for two of these squads place them in conjunction with the Real Madrid club and La Liga specifically. However, the final squad does not have to be directly tied to either, instead focusing more on player Ratings. Here are the parameters behind the necessary squads players need to submit:

Organization

Requirements

Real Madrid

  • One Real Madrid player minimum
  • An athlete with at least an 86 Overall Rating
  • A Squad Rating of at least 84

La Liga

  • One La Liga player minimum
  • An athlete with at least an 87 Overall Rating
  • A Squad Rating of at least 85

Any

  • Two athletes with at least a minimum Overall Rating of 88
  • A Squad Rating of at least 87

Meeting each goal within this SBC grants players the unique Federico Valverde card, as well as several Gold Packs for each organization. For example, Real Madrid grants a Small Gold Players Pack x1, La Liga gives a Jumbo Gold Pack x1, and the final squad earns a Jumbo Premium Gold Pack x1. Players that utilize all the rewards from October 2022's Player of the Month SBC are guaranteed to have a better squad potential and perhaps have a greater chance to win matches in FIFA 23's Ultimate Team.
